I would say maybe 12-18 months. Don't do all at once either - I do half one clean and the rest the following clean. **Q: so i have bought the 306 with no media is this all the media i need for it to work effectively? as ive never used and external filter before. tia** A: This will fill the foam holder and the fist canister of 3.
