Prospectors Gold Rush Hair Pomade 4 oz. Tin Can

This product has completely ruined Suavecito for me. I've used Suavecito for years and has been my default pomade for a while. I'll be using that as my control for comparison. P=Prospectors S = Suavecito Packaging: P = One word, awesome. Comes in a large metal tin (4.5 oz). It's very detailed and has a lot of neat touches like the shovel and pick on the inside. Looks nice on the bathroom counter. S = Plastic tub. meh. Advantage = Prospectors Texture : P = Scoops very easily and has a nice creamy texture. S = Very sticky and tacky texture Advantage = Prospectors Hold: P = I have a slick back and the hold for me lasts around 12 hours. If your a night owl you might need to apply again before going out. Hair isn't stiff or crunchy and is soft to the touch. I also noticed that my hair is better trained and will tend to want to stay slicked back even without the pomade. The added oil definitely conditions S= Hold lasts a full 24 hours. Very crunchy almost brittle texture. Dries so hard feels like you could snap a strand of hair off. Feels like you're wearing a helmet of hair. Why did I love this again? Advantage = Prospectors Washing out P = water based and rinses out very easily in the shower even before using shampoo S = water based and rinses out very easily as well Advantage = draw Scent P = I absolutely despised this scent at first. My wife described it as old lady and called me Ethel for the rest of the day. I wouldn't describe is as old lady, but I would describe it as a very clean soapy type scent. It's not overly masculine, but it definitely isn't feminine. It's just a nice fresh clean scent and I ended up growing to really like it after a few uses S = The best part of this product in my opinion. Very strong masculine scent. Advantage = Suavecito Overall, this product out performs Suavecito in every category with the exception of scent. If you like Suavecito you owe it to yourself to give this product a try.

Loved the scent. Loved the texture. Love the hold without all the super hard stiffness. Cleans off the hands with just water. I also like that later in the day after having this product in your hair and your want to stop out with a few friends, you can wet your hands a little and rub it through your hair re-hydrating it and your can restyle it again for a more refresher look.

I've been using my first can of this for almost six months and just received a new one. I got turned on to this by my hair stylist, she sells it for $15. It holds well, lasts all day, does not flake at all and not too shiny or wet looking. I have thick hair and need something strong enough to hold it in place. This also washes out much easier than some oil based pommade I've used. It also smells great but not too strong.

It smells like peach soda (at least this one brand of peach soda from japan), it goes on smoothly and doesn't really pull while still giving a good hold. It gives off a moderate shine and I like the way it feels in my hair and it comes off easy.

Definitely worth the money and will buy again when I run out. It has kind of a bay rum and woodsy smell to it but it's not overwhelming or offensively strong. It'd just right. I have thick hair and it holds great without being sticky or flaky

The product is great but i wish i would have known that the product a strong hold and difficult to get out if my hair when washing it.

I've been using this since 2018, and while I sometimes try others out of curiosity, I always end up disappointed in comparison. Smooth and slick with a fantastic scent. There's no need to look any further!

Product Packaging: 5 Stars -- Definitely an eye catcher! Love the old timey theme of the graphics on both the box it comes in and the tin the product is filled in. The tin is pretty much cool enough to keep after using up all of the pomade for small nick-nacks and what not. The attention to detail on the art is great. Love the pickaxes at the bottom of the gold pomade. Great stuff! Product: 5 Stars -- 1) Scent: Definitely reminiscent of the old "Barber Shop" smell. The only way I can describe it is that smell in your hair after you've gotten a fresh cut from the barbershop, except you can smell like this EVERYDAY. YES. Someone aren't down for it, as I can generally smell it throughout the day. But I love it! 2) Texture: The color is gooooooold! It's very pretty and sleek looking. The feel is somewhat smooth yet sticky? But definitely easy to apply. It reminds me of "thick gel," which isn't a bad thing in my opinion. 3) Hold -- Depending on how you like your hair "set" for the day determines if you'd like this pomade or not. If I use too much, it almost feel 'hard' like if I had used gel instead. BUT, if you comb it through some and add a bit of water, it softens up. After applying it, it generally stays in the whole day until I wash it out. Definitely one of my favorite pomades. :) -Ame

Great styling on the tin (inside and out), Product smells amazing and continues to smell good and fresh over a couple of days in your hair. Great hold on long hair (I've got a classic slick back and strong thick hair) Restylable with a little water and washes out nicely. I've been using Prospectors for over 2 years now which also speaks volumes.
