Excellent product! Fully adjustable dont need a different tool for every different size. Fixed a sticking closet door in about 30 seconds.

This is a worthwhile tool but it could be a bit longer to increase the leverage. If you fix a lot of doors buy it.

Good tool for purpose

I used the Fastcap Knuckle Bender on a heavy exterior metal door with fairly large hinges and it worked for me. The door was overlapping the jam at the top by at least an 1/8th of an inch. To get it to close you had to either slam it very hard or lift it by the handle when closing it but even then it was binding at the top. I never thought I could fix the problem myself, I was sure it was a job for an experienced carpenter or door hanger. But by chance I came across a YouTube video showing how to "adjust hinges" on doors that wouldn't close properly using a crescent wrench. One video led to another which led to one using the Knuckle Bender. Now I have crescent wrenches but truthfully they could have been anywhere in the house, the basement, the garage, etc. and I just didn't feel up to looking for them so I ordered the Knuckle Bender if only because it was a tool specifically designed for the job and at a reasonable price. I read the negative reviews here but there were a number of positive ones too so with some trepidation I set off to try and fix my door problem. I knocked out the hinge pin and carefully used the tool to bend back the "knuckles" or "barrels" on the hinge half that was attached to the door. I only bent them a little each time out of caution, it took several sessions until I got the door to close without a problem. I guess I could have done it with a crescent wrench but the Knuckle Bender worked nicely so I recommend using it instead of a crescent wrench. Some notes- First of all, do not open the door while adjusting the knuckles except as noted below. Second- In my case the pin on the tool used to knock out the hinge pin worked with only moderate success. About 2/3 of the way out the base of the pin on the tool wedged into the door. Any further hammering would have only wedged the tool base further into the door. At that point I simply put the business end of the tool against the top of the hinge pin and adjusted it to close around the lip of the pin and hammered against the tool driving the pin up and out. It was a minor and easily solvable problem. Third- Remember that once you bend the hinge knuckles attached to the door they will no longer line up with the hinge knuckles attached to the jamb and the hinge pin will no longer slip down through both sets of knuckles. You could try shimming the door up until the knuckles line up. That did not work in my case so I had to carefully open the door and maneuver it until the knuckles lined up. Doors can be heavy, be ready to support it once you open it.

This is a very convenient and easy to use tool - and it does the job! However, if you have thick door casings as I do, you’ll likely have to temporarily remove the casing to get the tool jaw around the hinge. Also, be sure to first check tightness of your hinge screws before removing hinge pin and shimming door to the proper fit. I was positive my screws were tight - but they weren’t. And…. bend only the hinge knuckles that attach to the door - NOT those on the jamb side of the hinge.

The tool generally works well and has good build quality. The main problem I have is that all my doors have trim/casing around them it there isn't enough clearance between the hinge and the trim to get a good grip with the pliers. Metal pliers on metal hinge also leaves scratch marks. In spite of the clearance issues, I was able to use the tool on two doors with moderate success.

Works reallt well. We bought one for each trailer. Can do the adjustments when he hinge still attached to rhe door. Unless the trim is too close.

I should have took notice of the other review that it don’t work! .. £30 down the drain . It don’t grip on to the hinge and when I try and pull it back the door frame is in the way .
