8-Ounce Ice Machine Cleaner

The previous review and comments for this product need to be addressed. This is a fine product. But you need to know how to use it. First, this is not safe for copper plates like Manitowoc because it is not nickel safe. It will ruin your icemaker. I use this on a Hoshizaki which has a stainless steel plate. Hoshizaki recommends their product or Lime Away. I've found Lime Away to be a bit on the weak side. But as weak as it is, the green version of this product or the nickel safe version is even weaker. If you maintain and descale your machine enough you don't need such a strong product. But if you are lazy like a lot of other business owners are, you don't get around to cleaning the machine enough so scale builds up. In my case, 3 years worth of scale which gave my machine the appearance of a cave. It was awful and I had to chip away and take everything apart, but I still had stuff stuck everywhere and because I have a flaker the machine would squeal. It needed cleaning inside. So after many attempts with other cleaners, I ran some tests just to see what they would do to ordinary lime. Lime away would bubble up over time but took too long. CLR, Zepp, and others would do the same. But this IMS is pretty potent. It fizzled right away and I ran a concentrated solution of it during the cleaning cycle twice. And now my machine doesn't squeal anymore, finally. One of the comments wanted something that would descale and sanitize but there isn't a product for that. Your best bet is to follow your manufaturer's recommendation on what product to use and in most cases sanitizing is done with a bleach solution. But you want to descale, then sanitize. I spent many days cleaning my machine and over the course of all those chemicals I found this one to be the most powerful and safe for my machine. It might not be safe for your machine but if you're a Hoshizaki owner this is fine to use. In the future, I'll do more cleaning so I don't ever get to this point again.

Works fast. Read and reread the manufacturer’s instructions before you start … if I hadn’t I would have used a solution that was too concentrated.

I would like to he bottle to have a syringe type tip which would allow me to squirt the chemical into the ice maker. Do not know how much splashed out as I tried to pour it into the unit. Great product, my machine is clean.

This is so hard to do it leaves an after taste in the ice
