No springs, no levers or baskets. It is like a ball magnet so it must be alien technology. I had the shorter model and the top tube came undone so I JB Welded it. I finally bought the bigger beefier size which still fits in the pocket of my golf bag. I don't usually recommend things to friends but I have recommended this ball retriever to them.

This is the fourth ball retriever I have owned. It is rugged; I've had it going on two years. The others, with their plastic pieces, broke within a year. The "magic" feature works okay if the ball is sitting on firm ground and is easily reachable, but you can't always press down to snatch the ball, like if it's in water. When you extend it fully it's too whippy to work. But you can usually slip it under the ball to get it. These are essential in desert prickly plants. It is very compact – neatly fits in a pocket of your golf bag.

Good retriever, but be careful when closing

This is the 3rd and final one of these retrievers I will own. They all worked very well, retracted and stored nicely. I thought the 1st failure was my fault. The 2nd and 3rd times I was very careful and the end still broke. The final extension where the end attaches is obviously not strong enough. Very expensive lesson!!

Love this retriever. Compact, good extension and sturdy. I have tried, from the same Company, the aluminum 18ft and they don’t hold up overtime. The connection at the neck eventually fails. Lost mine and ordered another right away. Someone turned in my previous one and ended up returning. I have tried many other retrievers over the years and in my opinion the stainless 14 ft is the best. After 14ft( 18ft reach) you are probably holding up the game trying capture the ball.

This could be, in my opinion, the best golf ball multi-area retriever on the market today. I say could. I’ve had one of various size for over 5 years. I currently like the 18’ reach ones. They telescope (like an antenna) out and slide back in after retrieving your golf ball. This hides perfectly in a side pouch (not standing up in a club pocket). I’m very meticulous with my gear and take care of things. This is great for in the bushes, when your looking for a far reach etc. Easy to get the ball from the top or bottom, even in soft sand/muck under water. My only issue with this is the fact the joints in the extensions rusts out. After time you will pull it out and end up pulling the top completely out of the shaft. Like I said, I take care of my gear. I pull this out after I get home form my round and towel it off but water gets inside and there’s no way to get it out. I tried another retriever but don’t like that it sticks out of you bag next to your clubs. This one tucks away ut of sight in a side pocket. This is my 3rd 18 footer and I love it! Just expect to buy one every couple of years or so. I play twice a week all year long and obviously I don’t always find water but at times we all do. Some people have talked about the top falling off. I have never had that issue. The more you extend it it does get thinner and as long as your careful you should not have a problem. Fix the rust issue and this would be 5 stars!

Better than cheaper versions I have seen elsewhere. Like to length and that it neatly collapses so you can hide in golf bag pocket rather than out with the clubs

All of these ball retrievers are not created equally. This in my opinion, is one of the best you can acquire at any price. I love this product, as it extends to amazing lengths to reach your ball, then collapses to about a foot and a half for storage in your bag. Brilliant!
