Can you BE a serious tool-using primate without one of these? I think not. 😉It will work wonders on wood, plastics, plaster, and even soft metals. If you prevent rust from ever getting a foothold, it will stay sharp for decades. So...👉 Clean the file every time you use it! 👈...ideally with a brass-bristle brush like the ones sold at supermarkets for cleaning grills.

Wrong rasp for the application.
I was originally looking for Nicholsons' Platers Special and thought it possibly was no longer in production.Came across this rasp thought it was taking the place of the other. Have since found the Platers Rasp (USA) is still available. The Magicut is nothing like the Platers. It is like trying to use a worn out version of Plater.Material removal is poor in comparison. Have 51 years experience. I have no issues with the rasp. It is my own fault that I got the wrong rasp for the application. Nicholson products are the best in my book!

it's a thing of beauty
really impressed with, very happy, it's really big , it's move a lot of material, and it's not made in china , recommend it all day long, bought the handle for it also, later, had a chance to really use , wonderful, it hogs a lot of material, going to buy as gifts for all my friends

the unflat flat file
the size and cut is great but these files are not flat. They rock from corner to corner on a flat surface. I returned the first one and the second one was worse. Just too warped to be useful. Poor quality control, or maybe just poor quality.

Good quality, works well.
Nice quality and it does the job on my blacksmithing projects. I would certainly buy this again. I wish someone sold a canvas cover. I will go to the local fabric store and see what weights of canvas they have to make one for this rasp.

Not what is expected from Nicholson
This file is manufactured in Brazil not the USA like it says in the info. The quality control of this file is very poor. The coarse side goes sideways and almost off the side of the file and on the fine side some of the teeth were shaved down lower than the rest.
