Great for seam sealing tarps and tents
I use this flowable silicone for sealing the seams on my silnylon tents (SeekOutside Tipi, NEMO wagon top), it works great, cures within a few hours and keeps the rain out of my tent. I have also used this product to seal cook custom sewing silnylon tarps. The silicone doesn't crack and remains clear, I have had this applied on multiple tarps and tents for years with no issues or need to reapply. I assume it would be good for using with a windshield too, but my primary experience is with waterproofing outdoor gear.

Handy silicone sealer for quick fixes
Being someone who often tackles small car repairs, i found this Permatex silicone sealant to be quite helpful. it works well on cracked or leaking windshield edges when i'm on the go. the flowable formula makes application easy and smooth. i appreciate having a reliable, durable option in my toolbox for those unexpected windshield situations. it’s a solid choice for anyone who needs a quick, dependable fix while traveling or in the garage.

Good but oversold on capabilities
From the package: "Specially formulated wicking action silicone. Flows into hidden and hard-to-reach leaks around glass..." I did not find that it really wicked at all. To me, it is just a more runny RTV silicone sealant. Because is thinner, it will flow somewhat into nooks better than you can squeeze normal silicone sealant yourself. This, overall, seems to contribute to a better seal, so it might be the best product for the application, but it is not anywhere as great as the description might lead you to believe. Also, because it is runny, it is better used on small gaps and where the application is horizontal. If at an angle or vertical, it will tend to run out and drip. You might be better off with two light applications based on this. Based on its performance to claims, I'd give it a bit under 4 stars. One problem that this product (and most Permatex products) has is that it comes with a cut-off nozzle to apply the sealant. After you are done, there is no way to seal up the tube. Unfortunately, this makes it more of a one-time-use product and not so good if you want/need to do multiple applications because you still have a leak and/or the product leaked/ran out. I sealed the tip up extremely well with electrical tape, and it barely lasted overnight. (I had to cut some more of the tube off). Some other products (GE, I think) have a replaceable, screw cap over a pointed nozzle which would be much better. This probably knocks it down to 3 stars since it is not that cheap and not widely available. Finally, it claims to be odor-free. While it is vastly better than the pungent smell of acetic acid, it is not odor-free, but not really bad at all. Very-low odor would be more accurate, although smell is lesser important to me, I round back up to 4 stars. See my customer image of some landscape lights I was trying to seal from irrigation spray (which keeps corroding/ruining them). You can see that it flows better into crevices, but that it also has a tendency to run out. Hope you find my review useful.

Great to seal new headlight assemblies. 1.5oz tube is enough for 2 mustang headlights
I recently bought an 04 Mustang and decided to change the headlights rather than restore them. A typical problem noted on replacement headlights is leakage due to poor sealing. After seeing a recommendation ro use this silicone to go over the seal on the new headlights the day before installing them I bought a tube at the same time I bought the headlights here on Amazon. The silicone works great for going over the seams of the lights. There are many areas that you need to get the sealant down into a crevice to cover the actual seam and this worked great. It oozed into place easily and was not so runny to make it difficult or messy to use. I used a liberal amount on the seams so the sealant would cover more than a little and it would sink into the visible gaps from the poor job the manufacturer did on sealing. I did the job on my counter, with no dripping (YMMV as it does ooze slowly and depending on your light, it could drip) or spilling and no strong odors. The silicone settled into place and I was able to let it set for about 30 minutes until it was tacky and no longer oozing before turning the assembly over and doing the opposite side. I let it sit overnight to cure and installed the lights the next day. While it hasn't been long, I did take it through the car wash and do not see any signs of leaks. Great stuff and cheap to ensure your automotive lamp assemblies don't leak.

Handy little tube that actually works
Bought this to fix a tiny but annoying leak along the top edge of our minivan windshield. During heavy rain the water would drip right onto the dash and my daughter’s coloring books. First I cleaned the glass and trim really well, then squeezed this right into the hairline gap. It’s thin enough to run into the crack, but not so runny that it goes everywhere. I let it sit overnight and the next day we drove through one of those nonstop spring storms. No leak at all. I was so glad i didn’t have to drag both kids to a glass shop, and the tube still has plenty left for the bathroom window.

Useful for other uses.
I'm sure this works great on windshields and as a sealant but I've never used it for that purpose. I bought this because I read you can make homemade friction pads for aluminum yo-yo's with it. That didn't work out so well for me because, while this stuff does adhere to smooth surfaces, it doesn't do so quite enough to deal with the constant rubbing of a yo-yo string. Which is the only reason I put 3 stars. The self leveling nature of this product has a neat little side-effect - it makes perfect little half/quarter domes when you put a drop down on glass. So for example, I've used it to make little invisible bumpers in the corners of my iPhone facecplate so that I can put it face down on a table without it getting scratched up. (I don't like using protective films because they corrupt the feel and tend to be smudgier than the raw iphone glass)

fixed top portion of leaky windshield on 2004 avalanche!
completely fixed my leaky winshield at the top portion of the seal on my 2004 avalanche. with 20 year old rubber and seals, they were at the point of failing sooner than later. after washing the car one day, i noticed a leak from the inside of the car near the sunvisors. tried to take everything apart and clean the area with new gaskets and everything with no luck. then after reaching out to a windshield company to come check and repair it, they wanted $150 to "take the plastic trim off and reapply the sealant" with that information i looked into the glue and just decided to repair it myself trying this permatex windshield sealant. glad that i did, and for $7 i was able to apply a get a solid bead of this silicone across the entire top of the windshield and it stopped my leak. i even did an additional bead at about the 72 hour mark to fully get any spots i missed. its not the prettiest, but im sure if you taped everything off and wiped off the excess off it could come out pretty nice/factory looking. ive attatched a pic of the final out come, as you can see the paint is sun damaged so i wasnt exactly being a perfectionist to get it pretty looking. but it absolutely fixed my leak issue!

Effective Windshield Sealant
This windshield sealant exceeded my expectations. I initially ordered three tubes, unsure of how much I needed, but ended up using just one for the entire top of my windshield. Despite its runny consistency requiring careful taping off, the results were remarkable. After facing a leak for months and contemplating a costly windshield replacement, a single application of this product during three heavy rainstorms completely sealed the leak. I highly recommend it as a cost-effective solution that delivers on its promises.

Lättare att jobba med i separat spruta.
Jag tappade över till en spruta. Silikonen var lättjobbat och flöt ut bra. Jag kommer att beställa det på nytt.
