Maple Hill Naturals: Shampoo Bar, Hemp Seed Butter, Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil (Pure and Gentle Unscented)

I was so excited to make the switch to a shampoo bar for the economical, health and environmental benefits, but have been sorely disappointed with the results of the product. After a week of use, my hair looks and feels as if it has been slathered in wax. I cannot run my fingers through it and has the texture more of horse hair. My blonde looks brown, dull, permanent wet or unwashed. I have tried using a little soap, and a lot. I have rinsed for endless minutes with hot water. I have waited days in between uses. After brushing through my hair, the brush bristles are left covered in a residue that looks like small fibers or caked - on dust. I know there can be a time of adjustment, but I am unable to look professional or clean. It is frustrating and very disappointing to head back to the drug store this morning to purchase a bottle of new shampoo.

I have been trying to go "no poo" for awhile now and nothing was working. Then I read about how great shampoo bars are, and with dumb luck i came across this exact Maple Hill Naturals shampoo bar in Peppermint and looked at it multiple times for weeks before actually purchasing it. ITS AMAZING, and IT LATHERS! It doesn't lather like a normal shampoo but it does lather, which i love! I use this to shampoo, then apple cider vinegar on the ends of my hair as a rinse. My hair used to be greasy when i used normal bottle shampoo, now my hair is..dare i say luscious? its shiny, has volume, no grease, and i can shampoo every other/ every two day(s). Seriously just try it. Also, i am allergic to coconut in any form, but even though this bar does have coconut in it i have NO allergic reaction. I am only in my twenties, but i know i will be a customer for life. I cant say how long the bar lasts for being that i only got it a few weeks ago, but when washing i cut a small chunk off to use in the shower and keep the rest in the container it came in. When i am finished with this bar i want to try the lavender one. Seriously, just give it a go.

I only used this shampoo for about 6 weeks before I had to quit using it. It really dried out my hair. I only wash twice a week and have never had frizzy hair ever (with any product, including other bar shampoos) until I started using this product. FYI I have long, straight, fine hair that is usually neither too oily or too dry. For some reason it just really dried out my hair. It might work for some people, but it didn't work for me.

As a general shampoo conditioner combo this is not a good option for me. I have dry scalp with oily hair. As soon as I go to rinse my hair, it makes my hair feel like there is glue in it. No matter how much, how little, how much I lather, don't lather. I have to follow with conditioner in order to brush my hair. However, I do have seborrheic dermatitis and this shampoo bar was great in keeping it away for a month. No other shampoo has been able to do that.

Let me preface this with a tidbit of pertinent info. I'm a guy. If they made one single product I could use from hair to face to crotch to toes that treated dandruff I'd buy it. They don't though, and dandruff shampoo is expensive and kinda rough. I thought 'let's try something I can keep on hand, that doesn't take up much space and fits the bill for the times I'm not fighting the flake.'I like it. Smell doesn't last super long but it cleans your hair just fine and the bar is convenient. I'm thinking I'll grab another one for work and maybe keep one in the car, just in case.

It does a good job cleaning the hair of excess oil and grime but it doesn't do that great of a job of conditioning. My scalp feels okay but my hair feels /looks dry. After my shower my hair has the look of being clumpy and having a stiff feel; I have to tussle my hair to make it lay flat, first thing that came to mind when I started having this problem was 'I hope this isn't giving me dreadlocks'. That would of looked weird. I would recommend buying a conditioner along with this product.After rinsing the shampoo out of my hair, it has a tacky feel. I can't glide my fingers through my hair while under the shower head. I gave the shampoo bar a couple of days (4-5) before passing judgment. The Shampoo and "conditioning" bar isn't as harsh as 'Suave's' cheap clarifying shampoo but it is kind of a let down when I was expecting that this Shampoo and conditioning bar was going to be a 2-1 shampoo and conditioner. Now I will have to buy a conditioner.

I have thick wavy hair, a little oily. this is my first shampoo bar, so I don’t have previous experiences to compare. It leaves my hair feeling heavy and a waxy texture on it, the smell is good, and leaves a refreshing sensation,but it lasts just a few hours after washing. I’m giving it a couple of extra tries, but i’m not sure if this is the product for me. I bought the mint tea tree oil, maybe the others have less oils on it...

Item arrived on time. My daughter LOVES this. Can be used as a body bar as well as a hair cleanser. Most 2 in 1 product don't work well for your hair, but this one does the job for both. Skin felt smooth and soft after use. not oily at all. Long lasting bar. Would order again.
