Terrifier [Blu-Ray]

I can think of one positive about the film, Art makes a great villain and looks creepy as hell. However, he isn't scary because of his clowning and capering about where he is clearly playing for laughs. What he does is terrifying (more on that in a moment) but as a character not scary. So I think having him silent does him an injustice. It would be better in my opinion to let him speak and give him some cracking one-liners like they did with Freddy Krueger. Now onto the film (if you can call 90 minutes of torture, no plot and meh characters a film). I am a huge horror fan, I have hundreds of films and seen thousands. I love slasher movies, have a strong stomach and have seen some incredibly gory films without flinching. This however is the first time I felt physically sick and was repulsed by what I was seeing on screen. This is not a film, this is a director who wanted to make a movie *cough* of the most revolting, sadistic violence against women. Misogyny is alive and kicking in this film and I am just astounded that in these post-Weinstein years, Hollywood appears to have learned nothing. How can anyone involved with this film possibly think that this level of violence and brutality is acceptable against women? I don't care if it is a horror film, it isn't some arty piece making a statement, it is nothing more than a thoroughly nasty exercise in degradation, dehumanising, drawn-out torture and slaughter of two-dimensional female characters who are nothing more than slaughterhouse fodder. And I can now never unsee the infamous hacksaw murder which was repulsive. No desire to ever watch it again or the second film of the third (in production as we speak). Whatever is going on in Damien Leone's head that he can conjure up such disturbing material I do not want anything to do with it. My final thought is that it is a wasted opportunity to give us a great villain. Sure the film could have been gory but not repulsively so. Give us characters we care about, make it atmospheric, and get rid of the misogynistic violence towards women. This would have made it 100 times better. As it is though, revolting and unwatchable! Would give a 0/5 if possible!

A brain dead, reeking cesspit of slasher depravity which manages to tick every box in the 'Horror Clichés 101' handbook, while turning the gore up to 11. The cinematic equivalent of a death metal album where every track sounds like a garbage disposal unit going off in a hurricane. This is either a compliment or a criticism depending on your taste in these type of movies, but for me one vital thing was missing with Terrifier: I wasn't charmed. There is a gaping void at the centre of this film's soul which just left me feeling depressed. The special FX are very impressive though, hence 2 stars instead of 1.

Art the Clown is the main reason to watch this movie. His evil antics are what makes this movie great. Damien Leone doesn’t get enough praise for the story and David Howard Thornton is a genius when it comes to playing the titular character. I was an instant fan the moment I saw the movie. Art the Clown makes Pennywise look like a kitten and Michael Myers and Jason look like amateurs.

テリファーを知ったのは２が今年秋公開と言う事でごく最近でしたが日本発売版DVDは既に廃盤プレミアムになってしまってる上、レンタルも取扱いなくAmazonプライムでの配信でしか見当たらず、海外版ソフトはないのかと検索したらヒット‼️ 即購入しました。しかし残念ながらDVDはリュージョン違いで再生は出来ませんでしたがBlu-rayは問題なく再生、噂通りの大虐殺スプラッター! 但しマジメなホラーではなくちょっとブラックコメディな作品なので憂さ晴らしにはいいかも知れません

Gore galore and a jump ahead for the slasher class of horror. Not for the squeamish but well done and not boring or predictable by any means.
