Crystal Power, Crystal Healing

There is a reason why not every crystal is listed in the book - because the first 200 pages teaches each of us how to not rely on other people's crystal prescriptives and that includes Michael Gienger's. If we read and understand the first 200 pages, we don't *need* MG to tell us what the healing properties of any crystal are. This book and his methodology EMPOWERS us to not need a go-between or a guru to work with crystals and I will be forever grateful to Michael Gienger, may he rest in peace, for bringing this knowledge to us. I called this book a TEXTBOOK and here's why: For those of us not content with accepting other people's subjective experiences alone to learn about the potential healing properties of minerals, this book provides a way for each of us to realize any mineral's properties on our own, without a crystal prescriptive book or crystal guru.Regardless of its publication date (not updated since 1996?) CPCH remains the BEST and only book I know of from which to learn and teach Michael Gienger’s approach - working with the physical aspects of a crystal to determine its healing properties. If crystals can speak to one person, can't they speak to all of us who are sensitive to them? Then why do we need crystal prescriptive books? Why do we keep relying on other people - 3 or 4 well-known metaphysicians - for information?

This is one of the best at dealing with this subject I've ever read. Can't believe I missed it till now. Mr. Gienger takes you literally from the foundations to the what-they-do, and with fantastic photos to boot. Not a book to glance through and then put on a shelf till you need to look something up. Please do yourselves a favor and study this one if you're really serious about learning how minerals can do what they do. If there were more than 5 stars, I'd click on them. Okay, I confess - he confirms one of the things I've felt for years, that it matters very much how a mineral is formed, where it was formed, along with what's in it - but that didn't prejudice my reactions to the book. Read it and you'll see what I mean.

Very helpful book!

This is a great book on crystals! It covers everything you would want to know and learn....structure, color, healing properties, care instructions etc. I especially like how the author correlates the structure of gemstones to lifestyles. Also how to use crystals in your daily life.

Not the most comprehensive book i own for individual crystals as other books include more, but the best one for information on crystals as a whole topic ( as opposed to each individual crystal). My background is in Chemistry and I thoroughly enjoyed this and it had information not found elsewhere. Photographs are gorgeous. If you were only going to buy 1 book, make it this, as you can always look up individual crystals on the internet

I was visiting my local crystal shop and wanted something to help with a period of low self-confidence I was trudging through. My friend pulled this book from behind the counter and flipped to the index in the back to look up “confidence”, and it pointed us toward some stones to seek out. That feature alone was enough to make me order this book as soon as I got home. I have other crystal books and they are all special to me, but this one is a must have for any crystal-enthusiast’s library.

I belonged to a lapidary club & developed a fascination for crystals and their compositions as well as their reported healing benefitsplus their uses for energy emissions. This is an all encompassing and extremely detailed book on rocks, minerals and their chemicalcompositions for the curious...

If you buy only one book on rocks and minerals (and their etheric properties)..let it be this magnificent, elegant and technical work....I have a library of books on this subject....this is the only one I can imagine referring to. It is all things: personal, spiritual, not at all pretentious...yet, it assumes (and rightly so...) that the audience is intelligent.A text book. Finally...yes, I have all of Melody's books...all of George Kunz's books...and honestly. THIS ROCK BOOK ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! No more cowbell needed.

I own many books on crystal healing, but Crystal Power, Crystal Healing is by far one of best, it has been invaluable in helping me complete my crystal therapy practitioner course and is on the recommended reading list for many crystal healing courses. Like another reviewer pointed out I love the fact that the book tackles crystal healing from both a scientific and holist point of view and makes a refreshing change that an obviously very scientifically minded individual can also see the otherside of the coin.There are just so many good things about this book I don't now where to start! The book is by far the most thorough book on crystal healing I have come across, both in terms of the information it contains and because the author has researched all the information himself through years of experimentation and collecting data, it is not simply a collection of other people's opinions on crystal healing as some other author's have tended to do. I love the fact that the chemical formulas for the crystals have been included, as most books do not have this and Geinger has taken the time to investigate each mineral individually, associating the particular ailments they can help us with.There is also much indepth information on the 7 crystal systems, something I knew practically nothing about before reading this book. Although Geinger writes about scientific principles he does so in a way that a lay person can relate too, and his concept that each crystal system (different internal structures of crystals) has a differing effect on personality types and various ailments or conditions is inspired and makes alot of sense in terms of how crystal healing is actually suppose "to work" I have never seen this theory anywhere else. Even if you are just looking for a rough guide to the different crystals this book will not disappoint, as there are some beautiful pictures of the crystals and their individual theraputic qualities have been explored and summarised.

I bought this book in 2005 and now bought it for my daughter and partner. 17 years I have used info in the book and can say few things- The book explains things in a more scientific way-- Does not use astrology to guide you to stones-The quality of print and paper quality is really good.
