Review with pros and cons
Rating: Enclosure (Box): 8/10 Amplifier: 10/10 Speaker: 7/10 I didn’t expect a compact bass tube to impress me this much — but once properly calibrated, ( have to be properly calibrated 50 hz - gain 25 % ) the MTX RT8PT delivers a surprisingly refined audio experience. No, it won’t shake windows or rattle the chassis, and it isn’t meant to. What it does offer is something far more valuable: a clean, structured, and emotionally engaging low-end that blends beautifully with factory door speakers. Technically, the internal amplifier is the star of the show. It reacts fast, stays clean under pressure, and controls the driver with precision you don’t normally see in this price range. Set around 50–63Hz, the crossover lets the sub reach its sweet spot — tight, musical bass rather than bloated rumble. The enclosure design (an 8/10 from me) helps maintain that tight character. You feel the bass more than you see it, and that’s exactly what a proper musical sub should do. It fills the cabin with warmth and definition without overwhelming the rest of the frequency spectrum. The driver itself is solid (7/10). It’s not a powerhouse, but in this setup it behaves exactly as intended: clean lows, fast transient response, and zero distortion when tuned correctly. It shines especially with 80’s music — where accuracy and rhythm matter more than raw SPL. Emotionally, this thing has personality. It brings life to songs you’ve heard a thousand times. It gives the music soul without demanding attention. It reminds you that car audio isn’t only about loudness — it’s about feeling the mix the way the producer wanted. If you want a balanced, musical, mature low-end — not just noise — the MTX RT8PT is absolutely worth it. It won’t break your windows, but it will make you fall in love with your music again

Expectations (Reality)
As a former car audio installer, I've seen (and heard) it all. As I grew older (and produced music), I understood what bass meant to music. Its a necessity. I bought this speaker bc I understand that you don't need to have 2 - 15"s to produce bass. Why am I telling you this? Great question! This speaker does what its to do to add the element of bass in your vehicle. Now, if your wanting to be heard around the block or want "outshine" your friends, this isnt the set up for you. I'm running a Kenwood radio powering the MB Quart factory size speakers (6x8) and this sub. The truck I have it in (extended cab F-350) has all the sound I need. Its a good speaker (with the wiring set) for the money. If you want a lot of bass, you'll want to go with an amp that's 500 watts or more and something like a single monster speaker or dual 12". I didn't want to take up my whole back seat. Saves space and decent sound for what it is. As long as your expectations for a $185 speaker/amp and isnt high, you'll love this set up.

Total ripoff
This is the worst speaker I have ever bought and then when I return all the items they only gave me half of what it's sold for.
