The small parts tray appears screwed to the right side of the mat. As a nice bonus, one of the smallest trays came with a weak magnetic strip, but it is just strong enough to not let ferrous metal bits roll away. The tray alone is what drew me to this mat. I am always losing the small pieces, and needed something to keep them all at hand. I also love that it gives step by step instruction on how to field strip a traditional 1911. This already has been very helpful to my wife, who does not know how to disassemble a 1911 by heart -- at least not yet. So it saves the trouble of digging out the manual, or using her phone to bring up YouTube while her hands are dirty from carbon, cleaner, or oil.
