Base had to be reworked.
Haven't deployed it yet, but from the testing I have done with it, it works quite well.

Very adjustable, works well on GMRS
My only knock against the antenna is that the supplied allen wrench isn't the correct size and could strip the adjustment screws if not careful. Fortunately, I noticed before loosening the screws. It appears that included allen wrench is standard and the screws are metric? Either way, double check before you go to loosen them.As for build quality, it seems pretty robust. This is going in an attic, but it looks like it would probably hold up outdoors for quite a while as well (nothing lasts forever of course). It only took a couple of minutes to get it adjusted. The markings are nice and readable. I initially tried setting the top and bottom element to midway between 460 and 470MHz markings and I got 1.01SWR for the lower 462Mhz channels, the upper 462 channels jumped to around 1.2-1.3SWR and the 467MHz repeater channels were up around 1.6-1.9SWR. I adjusted the lower element to 470 and kept the upper element at 465 and the lower 462 channels were all at or around 1.01 and 467 improved to about 1.5. I adjusted the top element to 470 also and then all of the channels in GMRS are now around 1.01-1.04SWR. I don't have a full spectrum analyzer, so I can't see what the lower frequency response is, but it anecdotally seems good just based on Rx behavior, up in the 160s, but I get very good reception on the closest weather radio channel (and it still isn't that close). Better than I can get on my Nogoya UT-72 sitting on top of my car. I haven't checked, nor can I, the 145 range for VHF coms. But I suspect this is a fairly narrow band antenna, even if reception is good for Wx band. But great for GMRS!

They are very close to getting it right
HYS is very close to getting this right, but they are not there yet. I had to re thread (tap) the 10-32 holes for the radials. Surprised it was an English thread, but that's okay. Then on first bench testing realized the two snap rivets that hold the vertical structure to the brass base were very loose with gave intermittent contact. Gently tightened in a vise with wood on one side, and contact improved, but there was still some movement. Finally added a small screw driven steel hose clamp at the base, and that did the trick. I think in the wind on the tower, even after pressing the rivets a bit, they would just come loose again. The adjustable sections are great! This design is very close, just needs some more improvement. BTW, I have their 3 element 400 MHz yagi, and that product is great!

Easy tuning
I bought this for a GMRS repeater "attic antenna". I set the sections in line with the scribed marks and it tuned nearly perfectly so I didn't touch it. I haven't tried it for range yet so I can't comment in that regard. It did look a little delicate for outside use... not sure it would hold up well in ice & snow... but it should be fine for my use.

Very well pleased with the transaction.
The item is being used as a base antenna on the GMRS Land Mobile Band . For the price , which is one of the best values I could find , is very fair . The package was shipped and received quicker than expected . The antenna is of good quality , easy to assemble and install . Light in weight and not bully. Easy to tune due to the built in tuning marks with defines tuning marks on the antenna .I'm very well pleased , if and when I need another or replacement it will be this or similar type .Thank you ,WROZ461 John

Great Concept, Absolute CRAP Execution
I really wanted to like this antenna, because having an adjustable multi-element antenna for UHF would be a great thing. The concept is sound, but the workmanship and material choices make it unusable. The first one arrived in a shipping box with ZERO padding around it. Not surprisingly, the tip was slightly bent. The top element was frozen in place, absolutely unadjustable. But like I said, I wanted to make it work, so I gently straightened the top element, and tried to get it to free up.About the only way to get a grip on it to do so was to remove the vinyl cap and use needle-nose pliers to gently try to pull up. The aluminum is so soft, even gentle manipulation resulted in damage. I then tried driving a tap into the top tube, but I was still unable to apply enough force to make the tube move, so I gave up and started the return process. They offered to send me a new one. I was skeptical that the frozen tubes were due to shipping damage alone, but like I said, I really wanted this to work, so I accepted that offer. The second antenna arrived just as the first, with ZERO padding, and the plastic bag it was in had multiple slices like someone had cut it with a knife. The antenna itself wasn't damaged, though. So, I was really interested in seeing how an undamaged unit worked. The bottom section adjusted, but not without considerable force. There seems to be galling between the aluminum parts, and they seem like about the lowest-grade aluminum you could find, really soft. The top section, while undamaged, would not budge. Well, I could probably get it to move if I grabbed it with pliers or did the tap trick, but it would certainly result in significant damage. So now I have TWO antennas to return. My advice is to completely avoid this product.

Works well
I like the way this is adjusted. Inscribed on the mast are the adjustments. You set it where you're going to be operating at, and it's pretty close. Within the acceptable SWR first try. I may make some minor adjustments to see if I can improve it. It's also relatively easy to assemble.

Low SWR.
This antenna was set for grms and tower mounted. Hits repeaters 25 miles away easily. Antenna has hash marks for frequency. Set at 470 mhz and still get 70cm reception also. Paired with ground connection & 65 feet of lmr400 get an SWR OF 1.2 max at 20 watts power. Good GRMS Antenna. Mounting hardware provided went right on my tower.
