A: I am a size 40 but fit (tightly) in a size uk6 but a 6.5 works better for me (not to tight on my toes or getting blister on heel). Not an expert but think the 5 should fit if not you can always send it back and order a size or half bigger but I would not go smaller ;)

**Q: i am looking to buy these for wearing with kilts, would we be best buying a size bigger for everyone due to kilt socks being thick?**
A: Converse can be a pretty narrow fit, I'd go a size up if you plan on wearing thick socks.
