These speaking have been amazing so far! They look great, have many ways of connecting and they sound great. The speakers get loud and I mean loud, definitely something that could fill a large living room or a small get together. They are very solid with a good weight to them. The sound... I don’t in any way consider myself an audiophile, however I have been known to return audio products that don’t meet my standards. These sound amazing, there is a high level of clarity, I can hear background noises even at low levels. The bass is sufficient but there is a sub out if you like more. They seem to deliver a sense of space as well, making things feel almost 3D at times. And even at high level there is little to no distortion. Set up is easy, just plug up and get started, the remote is a nice touch. They also feature an auto-wake feature that turns the speakers on from sleep when you start playing audio to them. Kanto thanks for the Aux cable, but I would have liked to see an optical cable included as well, luckily I had one laying around so this wasn’t too much of an issue. The included audio cable is of good quality and very long, roughly 6 feet or so. And the power cord is thick, thicker then the one my pc came with, definitely meant to last a while. Bluetooth has been good as well, the range could be better but overall good, though the auto-wake doesn’t work with it. How does it look? I like all of the color choices, and I certainly would give a 1 Star on a product for not included a color of my choice especially something I didn’t even own. I opted for the glossy black color, and am very happy with it, the speakers look great and the larger speaker had a nice texture to it that stands out to me. There is a knob on the from that has multiple uses, however I’ve been using the remote more as I am more of a visual person. Now for the light/s on the front, there is a small circle on the bottom left of the powered speaker, this has multiple lights in it for power and Bluetooth indicators. Some have complained about it but it doesn’t really bother me. Although it does look a little out of place and I feel there was a better way of doing this. Issues There is some static that comes through from the ground loop, it’s very quite and only heard if your ear is right up against the speaker. Other than that I’ve been satisfied. These speakers come packaged with foam and each speaker is placed in a cloth bag, very nice packaging. Highly recommended!!!! Also the Kanto s2 stands are a little small and “springy” for these speakers, I wouldn’t recommend using them for the yu4 speakers, however Audioengine makes a DS2 stand (not to get confused with the DS1) for about $35 that’s big enough for these.

I originally bought Vanatoo Zero. They are great for imaging but the vibration and passive radiator along with the weird form factor added up returning them. I am old guy and I've had expensive, quality stuff. I need to down-size and "down-cable" at a smaller work station. I was ready to go to Kanto Tuk but it's too big for my desktop. So I have the YU4 now. I am very happy with them. They sound better all the time; actually blooming to my ears. The form factor is subtle and acceptable. The bass is not going to kick your ass but if you expect something this size to do that you have a bigger problem than low bass response. The are clear and the imaging is good...not great, but good. They are versatile, well-made and have great features...except there should be a usb input. For me they are keepers. I was also close to KEF lsx ii but why spend that kind of money? For desktop sound at enjoyable volume you aren't going to get better. These few morons that complain about noise probably have trouble with light switches. There is 0 noise, and all the input sources work great. Great product at a reasonable price.

I absolutely love these Kanto 4U4 speakers and am shocked they aren't more popular. Not only do they look sleek, they have every single input you could need including a phono pre-amp, two optical inputs, a sub out, bluetooth, stereo, and aux! I also love the volume knob being on the front. I use them as TV speakers in my bedroom and have programed my smart learning Sideclick remote to control the volume on these seamlessly. They auto turn on when the TV turns on and plays audio! The sound profile isn't flat like studio monitors but they are honestly really perfect for music or tv listening. These things are basically sound bar killers! I added a Chromecast Audio to the back and can power it using the USB power output on the speaker! Most versatile speakers I could find and are honestly really affordable for what they can do. My only negative is that the IR sensor on the front is not sensitive at all and sometimes has trouble picking up the remote when I'm trying to change the volume. You need to be directly pointing the remote straight on to the left speaker for it to pick up. Annoying at times but everything else makes up for it plenty. Also, I diy mounted these to the wall and did a poor job. Long story short, I messed up and they fell down hard but they haven't skipped a beat and work perfectly.

I was looking for a pair of speakers to replace a set of computer speakers I've been using in our bedroom for many years. The existing 2.1 Altec Lansing speakers sounded pretty good, but there was no balance control, and the volume adjustment was on one of the speakers itself, so I had to keep the speaker within reach on the night stand which took a lot of real estate. So I was looking for a good sounding speaker system which was bluetooth and had a remote control. I was initially looking for a Bose solution since I have a few different Bose speakers and I think they sound really good, but sadly they don't seem to make a solution like this, and the bose store wanted to sell me two of their $400 360 degree speakers which I could play in stereo via a phone app, but not from a computer, so I wasn't into that solution. So, my initial reaction to these is that they sound very good. I won't say they are "Amazing", because my little Bose Soundlink mini is amazing because it sounds about as good as this, but it's a sixth of the size and runs on a battery. They have a lot of bass which is fully adjustable, and they sound very full and I'm very happy with how they sound. They can get pretty loud, even though that's not really what I got them for. So, bottom line, I would recommend these to anybody who was comfortable spending the money for them to get a speaker which is going to sound better than your typical low end speaker. I do have three cons about them however... The speakers have an Auto Power Down (APD) feature which you cannot disable which causes them to shutdown after 15 mins of no signal detected to save power. It also has an Auto Power Up (APU) feature which detects a signal and turns them back on. This would ordinarily be a great feature, but the APU doesn't work with bluetooth, so I am unable to use it like I did before where I just turn on my notebook and the music is on, I must hit the power button on the speakers. Not a big deal, but disappointing. The other issue is that the "main" speaker, much like lots of other bluetooth devices on the market, has a fairly bright blue light denoting an active bluetooth connection, as well as a not that dim bluish white light which denotes that it is on. This probably won't affect most people interested in these speakers, but if you want them for your bedroom like I do, they are bright enough to bother you when you're trying to sleep. Happily, I have faced this issue before and I covered it with window tint, which doesn't appear to affect the remote control function, so all is well in the world. There is no dust cover included (or available as far as I know). Some mention of this was made in other reviews and a lot of people replied saying how "cool" these speakers look and that a dust cover might interfere with their good looks, but quite frankly I assume that most people care more about what they sound like rather than what they look like, and I'm afraid that in a few months that there's going to be dust all over the speakers which is a bit of a shame. If you care more about what your speakers look like, you should probably just just buy something from Kmart... So I didn't remove any stars for any of these because it probably wouldn't affect most people, but I thought they were worth mentioning... So overall, a very nice set of speakers.

I had been looking at new speakers for my desktop for awhile. There were a few choices I had, but ultimately, I decided to go with these speakers. They were the best bang for the buck and have a fairly impressive feature set. My setup is a AE5-PLUS sound card, speakers are hooked up through AUX 3.5mm connection. I did try the Optical connection as well. For the speakers themselves, they are fairly large for desktop speakers and might be difficult to find appropriate space for depending on how your desk is. They offer very good listening in the nearfield range. I bought the angled speaker stands to give a slightly better listening experience, though ideally, you would probably want them on a stand for optimal listening experience. The one real issue I have with these speakers is the low end mid bass. We're talking in the 60-120hz range. They have this very woofy sound (not sure exactly how to describe it). It's very overpowering. Even though they claim they can produce sound as low as 50hz, I'd recommend pairing these with a subwoofer. Kanto has a few models to choose from, but any powered sub will work fine with them. You need to make sure the sub has controls for Crossover frequency, but it will be a huge part in getting maximum value out of the speakers. I purchased the 6" Kanto sub after the fact to clean up the bass and give the best possible listening experience. Kanto states that the sub should be set to cross over of 70hz, but I feel 60hz is better and really cleans up the mid bass from the satellites. This is when you notice just how crisp and clear these speakers can be. They have excellent mid range. Bright without being overly so. You won't get fatigued from listening to it. Overall they are quality speakers, but depending on your application, you milage will vary if you don't have a subwoofer to pair them with. If you don't, then you'll have to use an EQ and significantly lower the 40-80 hz bands (whatever is closet to 60hz, that seems to be the pain point for these speakers). The sub isn't that expensive and greatly increases the listening experience. Truthfully, these speakers should almost come as a set with the sub, because I'd venture to guess most people will find them completely unlistenable without the sub. For reference, I listen to a lot of rock and metal music. Some songs are worse than others, but that awful hum from the mid bass is very hard to ignore. Good thing most people don't listen to music flat.

I wanted to upgrade my PC sound. These speakers are larger than my last, but still fit in a standard shelf space with 9" height of clearance. The sound is awesome! I also like that they have optical audio as the input for my PC and can still connect to other devices via bluetooth.

Edit: I’ve had these speakers plus Sub6 for a few days now. Hooked up as my computer audio system, I almost returned them due to the limitations of the YU4 inputs. Specifically, the YU4’s lack USB in, this is a HUGE mistake by Kanto. Digital optical audio out of Windows 10 machines has a know issue where a distinct ‘pop’ is heard before and after the audio card is activated every time sound is started and stopped. This is jarring, consistent, and reported throughout the interwebs. Also, the Kanto YU’s can’t be connected to computer via analog without a ground loop isolator - the company knows this and told me the instant I contacted them, but doesn’t alert the customer to this prior to purchase. The amount of baseline white noise you hear using analog connection to computer is criminal. Kanto told me this is due to the analog inputs of the YU4 being grounded. Today, a USB to digital optical converter arrived. Hallelujah!!! The YU4’s plus Sub6 sound AMAZING!! The audio quality is superb, even better than the digital optical straight out of the computer. And no cursed constant stop/start on/off pop. I can’t praise the audio quality of these speakers plus the Sub6 enough, truly amazing. But please Kanto, add USB audio input! Initial Review: I purchased these Kanto Yu4’s to pair with a Sub6 at my main desk connected to my PC. Sound quality is amazing. They are simple, elegant in design in person. Smaller than I expected. Also, the walnut is lighter than all the images suggestion, but they have a muted understated look. Fantastic speakers.

This is a preliminary review of the Kanto YU4 after 24 hours of using them. I am using them in my bedroom where previously I was using a Roku Stream Bar sound-bar with my television. I was growing dissatisfied with the muddy sound of the Roku (which is still vastly better than the TV speakers), so decided to make a change by moving to powered speakers and an ONN 4K Pro for streaming (check them out, they are awesome and now available in Canada at Walmart). I chose these speakers after reading/watching several stellar reviews and seeing the deep discount currently offered at Amazon. I am also happy that Kanto is Canadian. Thing I love: These are truly beautiful speakers. I chose the Walnut finish and they are stunning. Kanto offers these speakers in multiple colours and finishes so matching the style of your space will be a breeze. They feel extremely solid and hefty and the rounded corners adds an element of mid-century elegance. You will not be disappointed in how they look in your room. While lacking in deep bass due to their compact size, they still sound excellent with superior definition and clarity. The out of the box EQ is spot-on, but they also provide bass and treble controls on the remote to tweak the sound to match your personal preference. There are just powerful enough to become uncomfortable at max volume, which means they are perfect for the space. I am honestly impressed with how these sound and they are a big upgrade from the Roku sound-bar. I may add a small subwoofer in the future to extend the bottom end, but I am tickled with their sound quality thus far. The number of inputs (on the left speaker) is impressive. There is an RCA input with a ground post that can be switched between standard line-level or a built-in phono pre-amplifier. There is an AUX input that uses a 3.5mm (1/8") jack. There are also two optical inputs and Bluetooth. In addition, there is a USB that is only for charging devices, a subwoofer output and, speaker binding posts for powering the right speaker. I am using only one of the optical inputs for my TV and Bluetooth with my phone. Connecting was a breeze. The speakers come with a well designed remote that includes discrete buttons for every input, Bluetooth playback controls, as well as bass, treble, balance, volume and power. Things that could be better: These are seriously overdue for a Bluetooth upgrade. They are stuck using Bluetooth 4.0, which was released way back in 2009. They sound pretty good overall, using the aptX codec, but the low bandwidth compared to more modern Bluetooth versions is hampering them from reaching their full potential. 6.0 was released last year, but even 5.0 from 2016 paired with aptX HD, LDAC or even aac would be a a big upgrade. It occurs to me that if it is a genuine concern for someone, they could upgrade the Bluetooth themselves by buying a $20 adapter from Amazon and connecting it to the AUX jack. Personally, I will not bother as any streaming I do will be with the ONN player. It is slightly disappointing that the USB is for power only and not another digital input. That somewhat reduces their usefulness as computer speakers, although it does not affect me and my use-case in the slightest. This is a very minor nitpick, but I wonder why they opted for a second optical input instead of a coaxial one, which is by far the more common digital output on a blu-ray or DVD player. Mind you, in 95% of cases, the player would be connected to the TV via HDMI and the TV would then send out the sound via optical or RCA/35mm to the speakers/sound-bar. HDMI-ARC might be a nice option, but there is no difference between that and optical when it comes to stereo output. A non-issue. Things to know: These speakers CANNOT handle a digital multi-channel signal. Why would they? There are a stereo pair. Make sure you set all of your devices, especially the TV, to output stereo only. Otherwise you are going to end up with some pretty harsh digital noise. The included speaker wire that runs from the left (power) speaker to the right is very, very long. That is great if you want to place the speakers far apart, but you might want to cut-it to length, or use your own speaker wire, to avoid having wire draped all over your floor. Summary: I am deeply impressed with the Kanto YU4 powered speakers. They do everything I could possible want and sound amazing. The biggest flaw, the old Bluetooth version, is not enough to dissuade anyone from purchasing these or impacting my rating. The included phono input makes me think about getting another turntable just for the bedroom. I also may decide to add a small subwoofer in the future. If I do either, or if I run into any issues, I will update this review. For now, I am as happy as a clam. Peace. EDIT: wanting to stream audio, especially from my plex server, without needing to turn on my TV, I picked up a Wiim Pro. What a great companion for the Kanto. I used the second optical input to connect it and because the Wiim Pro has its own optical input that passes through the digital signal, I don't even sacrifice inputs. For example, I have the SMSL PL100 CD player connected as a transport being passed through to the Kantos. The Wiim also has Bluetooth 5.0, so it effectively upgrades the Bluetooth on the Kanto. The Wiim App is well-designed and streams basically everything including from my NAS and Plex server over wifi or ethernet with.no need to pass through the TV. It is the perfect partner for the Kanto YU4. 4 months later I still absolutely love how they sound, FYI

Not crazy loud, but crystal clear sound

Estoy muy contento con la calidad de sonido de los altavoces. Sonido nítido, con una buena respuesta en agudos y con una más que aceptable respuesta en frecuencias bajas. En mi opinión, aunque se le puede conectar un Subwoofer, casi no lo necesitarían, pero es cuestión de gustos; para mí la reproducción de los bajos que dan es suficiente. Los acabados son muy buenos, y la conectividad inmejorable; la salida digital audio te evita las interferencias a veces tan difíciles de eliminar con las conexiones analógicas. La conexión bluetooth también está muy conseguida, ni se pierde la señal, ni aparecen interferencias como me ocurría con otros dispositivos. El mando a distancia está muy bien diseñado para poder controlar las funciones del amplificador de 140W integrado. Además de subir y bajar el volumen, puedes controlar los bajos, agudos y el balance, la selección de las 5 entradas de audio que tiene, e incluso, si la señal entra por bluetooth, tiene la opción de adelantar, atrasar o pausar las canciones. Sobre la marca KANTO. Tiene un servicio de atención al cliente que funciona. Tuve un problema, les escribí, y en un par de horas me respondieron con soluciones y recomendaciones de qué hacer. Como el equipo parecía que tenía un problema —se apagaba a los 60 minutos—, me recomendaron cambiarlo; todavía estaba dentro del periodo de devolución. Sobre AMAZON. La devolución del equipo por otro nuevo, ha sido gestionado por los servicios de AMAZON con enorme rapidez y sin problemas. La solicité el domingo y el equipo nuevo ha llegado el jueves, cumpliendo el plazo prometido. No tiene ni que decirse que el equipo nuevo funciona bien; no se apaga a los 60 minutos.

Li ho acquistati principalmente per semplificare un po' il mio impianto audio, collegando direttamente questi speaker attivi al giradischi. Estetica accattivante, dimensioni ridotte, anche questi sono aspetti che mi hanno convinto all'acquisto e che non hanno deluso, anzi. Si collegano poi facilmente anche via Bluetooth, io per esempio li ho collegati al lettore di cassette di We Are Rewind e funzionano senza problemi. Sul suono non mi esprimo perché credo che sia un aspetto molto personale. Voglio dire a me piacciono molto, suonano bene in tutti i registri. Certo che poi probabilmente un audiofilo (che io non sono) avrà altre esigenze.
