BUSY, BUSY TOWN

My daughter loves all the Richard Scarry books, especially the big ones like this. It’s been great for expanding her vocabulary and starting conversations. The pictures are busy, bright and very nostalgic. These books give lots to talk about and can hold a kids interest for a long time!

Was so excited to find this author on Amazon! These were books my siblings and I enjoyed in our childhood as well as our own children! My mom had kept them. So excited to pass this new set along to friends. Great hardcover books, well made and fun illustrations!

The best books. They get read every single day in our house

I sent this to my 3-year-old grandson; I had already given him the Richard Scarry Word Book. He loves them both. BUT I just ordered from Amazon sellers two used (but almost perfect condition) copies of the First Picture Dictionary Ever, which is out of print, alas. The Dictionary was the favorite of my two daughters, and now I have a copy to give each family. All Richard Scarry books are gentle and engaging with so much detail that the child notices new things with each reading. Can't say enough good things! I think ages 1 year (with supervision) to as old as 8, but 3 to 6 really love these books. They will bring the book to you to read, and then they will teach themselves to read.

Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy Town My son who is now 45 and a father of 2 boys grew up with Richard Scarry. These books will never be obsolete. I have kept all his Richard Scarry books as he asked me to. This one and 3 others by Richard Scarry I purchased for my Nephews 3 children ages 2 and 3-1/2 year old twins. I have yet to meet a parent or child who does not enjoy reading any Richard Scarry book. They are not only informative but the cute animals that take the place of people doing people things in their town or elsewhere make learning a joy for Pre K and up. I highly recommend any Richard Scarry book. The child who receives it will thank you again and again. I being a grandma of 4 boys enjoy looking at them from time to time. They bring a smile along with some extremely pleasant memories of my son and I enjoying these books together, as he has done with both of his sons who are also growing up with Richard Scarry.

I gave this book to my 2 year old granddaughter and she sits in my lap for the longest time as we read together and point out all the vehicles and animals doing jobs. She lives the book as much as my children did 30 years ago, and I love reading it to her.

I grew up with Richard Scarry and passed my books down to my children. They are well loved and worn. Time to replace them for the next generation. My grandchildren love them as much as the rest of us!

３歳のわが子に買い与えてみました。 この半年ほど、録画したNHKの「えいごであそぼ」のほか、DVDの「 CatChat for BABIES 0歳からの聞き流し英語 [DVD ]」などを繰り返し見てきました。まさに聞き流し、見流しというところで、特に親が介入することはなかったのですが、それでも何となく英語の発音を繰り返して真似したりしていました。 また、親の私は留学や英会話学校は行っていないもののある程度英語がわかるほか、かつては American Accent Training (American Accent Traning) 、いまは Get Rid of Your Accent: The English Pronunciation and Speech Training Manual を使って発音矯正してきたので、簡単な英語の本をベースの会話練習なら自宅でもできるかと思い、その下地作りのためこちらの本を教材として選びました。 このほか、 Richard Scarry's Best First Book Ever! (Richard Scarry's Best Books Ever!) と Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Little Golden Book) も購入しました。どちらかと言うとBusy, Busy Town（とBest Word Book Ever）はBest First Book Everに比べるとストーリー性が弱い感がありますが、それでも、色々見知った物を売っているお店や変わった形の車、こっそり出てくるキャラクターを探して楽しめる内容ではありました。 大人が読んでも、触れる機会のなかった名詞などに出会うことがありとても興味深いです。中高生の頃にpicture dictionaryというか、絵付き単語帳のようなものを購入しましたが、これらのシリーズを買っていたほうがずっと語彙も多いし参考になったような気がします。絵も子供向けなのでリラックスして勉強できたかもしれません。

Loved Richard Scarry as a kid so some of his works were on my to-get list for my child’s library. This book will not disappoint! It’s all about what adults do all day at work and the busy life of the city. The first few pages are set walking through the town and you peak in windows like the bank. Each person seen has a sentence about what they do. Then after several pages of outside, you start going inside: the post office, the school, a woodworking mill. You get all these little vignette scenes of mail delivery from start to finish. About 10 different people per page and each have a sentence. Then there’s other stuff like the farm, the market, an apartment building, firefighters, police officers, doctor’s office. I loved the page on stay-at-home parents because it can show kids how much work your parent actually does when you go to school. Generally a very well-rounded book capturing many part of life. Also many pages! This would be a good book where you can let your child set the pace. They may enjoy a fast flip and to just look at the pictures, or point out some pictures and ask questions, or they may like to mostly flip but then read in detail on pages you know they are interested, like the school page for kids almost ready to start school. Very fun book. Highly recommend.

Good product, but for my son is a bit easy . He is 5 years old

einfach empfehlenswert. Hatte als Kind selber ein Buch von ihm, habe das meinen Kindern gezeigt und die waren begeistert! Darum besitzen wir inzwischen auch schon ein paar seiner Bücher, alle im Original, denn meine Kinder wachsen zweisprachig auf. Aber ich verschenke sie inzwischen auch gerne an andere Kinder deren Mamas ebenso begeistert sind, da sie dann mit den Kindern gleich mit lernen können (falls sie der Englischen Sprache noch nicht, oder nicht mehr, so mächtig sind) - wenn sie ein bisschen was von der Aussprache verstehen ;-). Die Kinder lieben die großen Bücher wo es so viel zu entdecken gibt und sie haben meiner Meinung nach vor allem auch richtig lange was davon (KiTa- und Grundschulalter auf jeden Fall).

Rigolo et bien illustré pour apprendre et parfaire son anglais nécessite quand même un dictionnaire, car même si les dessins sont pour les enfants, le niveau d'anglais est bon !!!
