๐ช Sharpen Like a Pro, Last Like a Legend
The Shapton Glass Stone 220 HR is a premium ceramic sharpening stone featuring 220 grit (66.82 microns) designed for fast, precise edge refinement. Its dense, non-absorbent ceramic media lasts 4-5 times longer than traditional waterstones, eliminating the need for soaking before use. The stoneโs engineered binding matrix simultaneously sharpens and polishes, while its precision ground glass base ensures durability and consistent flatness throughout its extended lifespan.

Not HR series
This is the second Shapton glass stones I have bought from Amazon, the 1st (120 gt) arrived chipped and cracked, this 220 arrived the journey intact. Both stones are the cheaper range and not the white HR series, so they don't cut hard steels as well. I suggest finding the real HR series to buy. This item description should mention what series you are buying!

Great Value
This Shapton 220 seems (in my subjective perception) to last about four times as long and requires far less frequent lapping than the cheaper competitor(s?). Well worth the approximately 30% extra cost, currently. I've worn it down to about 1/16" of an inch off the glass base in the last three years and I am now wondering when I need to purchase another one. Unlike the non-glass-based stones, this one keeps on being usable until the bitter end. It makes much less of a mess than the competitor in terms of grit shedding. It is also a really nice looking stone and easy to use because it doesn't need to be pre-soaked. If there is a better 220 grit water stone than this Shapton, I am not aware of it.

Fast cutting, but also fast dishing
Cuts fast, but dishes fast too. I like how compact these stones are, and the glass back is nice to look at. The drawback to their small size is that they have a relatively shorter lifespan. Be sure to constantly check on whether the stone is flat. Splash and go stones are also nice and easy to use.
