Awesome for light duty use (no pun intended)
Likes... 1. power source - 3 AA batteries makes it very bright. Really bright. Also a long lasting power source, much better than rechargeables, especially since a spare set of batteries is very easy to carry. 2. battery pack- batteries load in box on back of strap. They're out of the way of the lamp and balance the load very nicely, easy and comfortable to wear. 3. Strap - easy to adjust, stays put, thanks to top strap. As comfortable as any other headlamp strap 4. Very, very bright - gives you a nice feeling when you're out in those dark, spooky woods 5. "zoom" beam works well, easy to adjust, from a wide field to focused beam. 6. Low-level brightness for conserving batteries 7. So far switch works great. Not So Crazy About... I'd be a little wary of its construction for heavy duty use, a lot of plastic. I don't think one would want this for pro use, like for a forest ranger or miner or something. But for the occasional camper or household/garage use, it's awesome. We're getting a second one. If anything goes south with its performance, we'll be back to share. Otherwise, no news is good news.

Truly a great product! Very bright, broad pool of light, not a single pin point that fades.
I have been reading lots of 5 star reviews, and was a bit dubious about the claims from reviewers. Once I opened the package, put in the batteries and turned it on, all doubts were alleviated. The light quality and quantity IS truly solid, it creates a brilliant, consistent pool of bluish white light instead of a pin point, that fades out to the sides. I really like the ability to focus the beam from a wide circle to a smaller square of light to allow for more focus. The overall design of the headset is comfortable and adjustable so I can turn my head in any direction or orientation without falling off. Most importantly, the lamp can be worn securely and is still comfortable. I wore it on an hour and a half run and it didn't rub, press, or create pressure points that made me need to shift, adjust, or reposition it; it felt fine the entire time. I have also worn it while tackling the Incline in Manitou Springs going through heavy mist/low clouds and very light rain without any problems from the moisture. I was in the fog for about 55 minutes all told, and didn't have any issues. I will give updates if I notice any changes in the future. As for those that were asking about a red light filter, I tried using red Sarah Wrap and a rubber band and it worked just fine as a jury rig. The bulb doesn't get hot, so the film didn't melt or rub off on the lens itself, and the housing still moved so I could focus the beam without hindrance. I don't need the red light filter myself, and won't be using it again in the future, I just wanted to try it for a while and see what happened.

Worth the money!
One of the best headlamps Iโve ever had. Love that itโs battery operated. You donโt have to worry about recharging when out for extended periods of times. Very bright. I bought one for the whole family!

EXCELLENT! Very Bright, Great Coverage in Comparison to Others of the same Size, Great Control!
This is my third headlight like this and roughly the same size and although my other two were pretty good I just found they didn't provide quite strong enough light for what I needed (which is clipping my dogs' nails and working around the house and car for DIY jobs) so I wanted something brighter. This one does the job beautifully and beyond my expectation! The write up for it left me uncertain so I figured I'd just have to buy and try and I'm so glad I did. Something to note: When I first put it on I didn't think the light head could rotate down much, as it's a pretty tight mechanism, but with some more force I could move it to numerous tilt positions and it provides all the movement needed. The the various levels of light options are also very hand as the bright light may be too bright at times. What makes this even more special is that you can focus the light into a strong light beam e.g. right onto a dog's nail tip by pulling the whole lens forward. This is a fabulous feature and will be hand for many pruposes e.g. seeing that screw head in the dark. So thrilled with this purchase!

Light and Bright
This takes 3 AA batteries (supplied) and after a week (for about 2 hours) of daily usage, still bright as day one. I like the ability to focus it to spotlight, or wide angle. The on/off button also controls the brightness at three levels to save on battery life. Adjustable elastic straps give a comfortable fit and after a while you forget it's there. This headlamp can be also worn with or without a hat and does tilt downward. I dropped this on the floor once but with no damage. I was impressed with the quality of the headlamp... this isn't a one or two time usage product.

There are a lot of bad headlamps out there
There are a lot of bad headlamps out there. Lots... I've gone through several over the years. They've all been too dim, or too flimsy. This is not the case with this product. I was a little skeptical with the price point, but the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I decided to roll the dice on this one for summer camping season. Worst case, I would just have to end up getting a new one next season. I was not let down at all. First off, this thing is bright.... BRIGHT!!!! Do not ever shine this in someones face. We're talking like only slightly less bright than the sun here... Second, this thing is very well made. I don't plan on mistreating mine, but it feels like it could deal with some light abuse. Third, its comfortable, and well balanced. My only concern, is that the battery pack seems a little flimsy. The clips seem like they could potentially break if you were not careful. It could use a seal around the cover to keep water out in the event of inclement weather, and maybe a materials upgrade to a harder plastic. Even with that concern, I'll still give this 5 stars. The value relative to the price is more than you will get with ANY other brand of headlamp.

Super bright but not user friendly
This is a great lamp. It's very bright for ~$30. With this 1000lumens the range is very far... I mainly take it out to walk the dog at night. But as a head lamp it not very good. This replaced my prevous BlackDiamond head lamp that is about 15years old which seemed like it has 30lumens. So there's a huge difference which I am very impressed. Plus, it doesn't require special battery and AA is very commonly found. The thing that I didn't like as a headlamp is that the angle of lamp (between 0 and 90 deg) is spread out with three clicks which is ~25degress per click. I constantly have to tilt my head to get it to get it to point where I want or if I use as is the beam is either slightly too high or too low. Yes, it's either that or I have to adjust the whole strap (on my head) to point where it goes but over time, the strap moves and I'm back to tilting my head. The second thing that I didn't like about this lamp is that the focus beam is push-pull which isn't very precise as a screw setting. So I have to fumble around the lamp to get the beam adjust correctly. This is pretty much like building your own headlamp with buying a flashlight and a strap then strapped to your head. It's not really an effective "head" lamp. But for $30, it's very bright!
