This unit has been triggering my RV's low voltage proection, likely from random spikes. Anyone have an idea on how to disable it?

Yes, the same thing happened to me with my 30A Victron dc-dc on my 2021 Ford Transit starter battery. The answer is to use the 18A victory dc-dc charger. I learned this the hard way. Some cars can't handle that draw.

Would it harm this victron 12-12-18 if I mounted it in a pickup truck engine compartment, connectors at the bottom and air space around it?

For good cooling effect, the Oion is designed for vertical mounting only. Other mounting methods may impair cooling and reduce the service life of the product.

Can I connect the input and output ground together?

Yes if not trying to isolate like in a boat for galvanic corrosion. If you don't need the isolation feature just purchase the non-isolated model and save a few dollars. If you already own the isolated model and installing in a RV you can ground both to same ground connection.

I'm looking to find a dc-dc charging solution that also accepts solar input. i'd rather have victron vs redarc or ctek?

I use two separate devices. Solar is in series so the input ranges up to 100 volts. It’s nice seeing both via Bluetooth.
