Buy Terra Sigillata: Contemporary Techniques by Willers, Rhonda (ISBN: 9781574983869) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A potter's treasure - great book for anyone who is just starting with terra sigillata but also for those who have already had some experience with it and want to get a better understanding of the material and its possibilities. I loved the part about how to make terra sigillata from wild clays. whatsmore the recipies for colored terra open up so many posibilities. I definately recommend it. Review: Rhonda Willers book was good beginning to end. She gave clear descriptions with just the right amount of detail. The book is thoughtfully put together. Starting with a brief history of terra sig, how to make it, how to use it and then several chapters on an ever deepening way how some very creative people make use of it themselves. She took the time to research the images she uses of other's work and gives the nerdy info we crave in ceramic books; clay body types, finishes used and firing temps. It's always there. I've successfully made and used a couple different recipes from the book. It's a great reference tool and gave clear guidance. In a couple instances the publisher stumbled with matching the numbered descriptions of a process with the photos. You need to turn the page here and there to see the photo of a sequence that is being described. I look forward to other books from the author for she has as much talent writing as with her ceramic work!

The book itself is fantastic, as there are very few available on this subject matter, particularly with a contemporary approach. The illustrations and layout are really beautiful with plenty of valuable information on this technique that dates back to the 1500s. Rating: 5 stars Although the book arrived in good time, it wasn't in the best condition and had been somewhat damaged in transit; disappointing given that I bought it as a gift. Rating: 2 stars

This book is chalked full of information and pictures and I would say is great resource. But for me, I felt overwhelmed because I was just curious about Terra Sigillata and didn’t realize how complex it is. I ended up sending it back only because of the cover damage. I think Amazon just shoved it into the bubble pack without care and this is the type of book that you would keep in your resource library forever. I would recommend this book if you really want to learn about Terra Sig!

This book is written with the new-to-terra-sig potter in mind—super easy-to-follow instructions with lots of great historical and contemporary information on this finishing technique. The pictures are very instructive and useful as well as the formulas and helpful hints for making your own terra sigllata. Best resource I've found on this topic.
