Morrisons Basmati Rice, 2 Kg

The grain length is average and the texture is nice once cooked. It is very easy to cook using a 2:1 ratio. Add some spices and it is divine, making the whole house smell lovely. This rice is very versatile. You can make rice and peas or a curry, as it goes with everything. I have purchased many different brands of rice and this one is by far better than most I have tried. It is also a fraction of the price. It needs about five or six washes before the water runs clear.

I was not expecting this rice to smell and taste so good. It stands up very well against mid-range Indian basmati rice. Fluffs up nicely, not sticky, has a sweet flavour and long grain. Cooks fast even in an open pan (as opposed to a pressure cooker). I tend to wash it twice or thrice until the water runs relatively clear.

I would recommend washing this thoroughly; when you think the water is clear, give it another rinse for good measure as this rice is really starchy and will stick or become mushy. It takes a tiny bit longer to cook than what's stated on the package if cooked on a hob, but I find this comes out best when using my rice cooker. Smells and tastes yummy. Good quality rice when washed/rinsed.

Nice basmati smell greets you on opening the bag. It's cooked in 15 minutes using my rice cooker. Tastes really nice. Rob :)
