This starter is so much smaller than the old Hulk starter it replaced on my SportCraft 454 engine. STarts so much faster, and was a lot easier to install because of it's smaller size, and lighter weight. Don't think that smaller and lighter means "cheaper" or "less". This new starter is a permanent magnet gear reduction (PMGR) starter. It uses a small transmission to allow a smaller motor to be used, and deliver more rpm and torque. All of the latest starters are this design.

Seems to crank my hi pro 8.1L just fine. Looks well sealed from outside water.dont know about inside we will see as my Hamilton 212 will fling water in bell housing because it’s so low to bottom of boat. So water gets inside and rusts the brush springs in a year so I buy two they are cheap.

Bought for GM 350 boat engine. Bought in May, failed in July. Starter drive shaft rusted and jammed.
