It may be "pets and people safe", but you have to spray it right on top of them for it to work. It has no real lingering effect and soon after a surface has been sprayed, it dries off and gnats return. However, it's better than using harmful chemicals, especially around the kitchen and utensils. The spray nozzle is not the best, as it drips on your fingers when you're using it.
