Perfect for carving a linoleum block.
I bought this so I could have a benchhook for block printing. A lot of people complain about the size but it's in the product description. It's not the sellers fault if you can't read the dimensions. It's a speedball product so it is made for block printing projects and works perfectly. If you're looking for a bench hook for larger wood working projects then this is not for you.

Double duty, ink blotter, and holding jig for carving.
Just makes sense to have a roller surface for ink and a back stop that holds your linoleum as you push the cutter away from yourself. One end hooks over the table so you can push against your work. One side is very smooth for ink, The other side is a little rough. Better for cutting so you don't scratch the ink surface. Very compact and durable forr a kit. .

Must-have tool!
The bench hook is one of the most important tools in every printmaker's kit. From holding your block in place while carving to serving as an inking palette, it's really indispensable. Speedball always offers quality products and this is no exception.

Exactly what you expect, made out of metal and seems like decent quality. Does the job

Worth having, pretty good
Good and simple bench hook/inking brayer surface. Easy to clean ink off of and never slips when I'm carving unless I'm doing a bad job of it.

Solid sturdy as an inking plate
A solid sturdy bench hook that is the right size for what I usually work on. You don't really need a bench hook as an inking plate but it is nice to have if you have a small work space so you can use it, clean it and store it for later instead of trying to make table space for ink.

Protective Safety Device While Carving
This device is protective while working with sharp tools during the process of carving print blocks. Wished Iโd used it in past years! Highly recommend.

Necessary
I am so glad that I bought this. I purchased the Speedball linocut starter kit at the same time, and without this... there's just NO WAY I would have been able to safely cut the unreasonably hard linoleum block it came with. This is DUAL PURPOSE: 1) to hold your lino 2) use it as an ink rolling tray It's very sturdy and worth the price ($9-10).

Good, but expensive
Does the job, but too expensive for what it is. I would suggest making your own!
