Shark vertex vacuum is a beast of a machine!
I researched this vacuum heavily before buying it and honestly I was not sure it was going to be as good as everyone said. I was wrong. The vacuum is stellar. I can tell that it's cleaning the carpet in a way that it was not cleaned by my old Shark vacuum because of what I see in the dust cup as they call it.. it's hardly a cup it's huge. The one thing they don't tell you in all the reviews and videos that I watched is that the motorized brush rollers are really powerful. I'm 72 but fairly strong very physically active/fit and this thing just about ran away with me. It was a workout to use it. Not in a bad way but still a workout. The forward is easy..but on the backstroke you've got to really pull against those brushes that want to go forward. Very impressive results so far. I might update this after three or four months of using it. I have a low pile ribbed carpet and I've been using it on the medium setting which seems to be appropriate for this carpet. I've not tried it on my hardwood floors yet. All I can say is the suction is very strong and puts my older.Shark Navigator and classic Miele cannister vacuum to shame. Completely worth the slightly higher price, very easy to put together right out of the box,. I couldn't be more satisfied.

Easy to use and put together and cleans well.
Seems to be a good and powerful vacuum. My years-old Shark finally gave out but was a good vacuum. We moved from a house to an apartment with wood-like floors so needed a vacuum for smooth surfaces. It really sucks up the lint and cat hair and is easy to empty the cup. Others commented on it being hard to pull the vacuum back toward you and I can tell that would be a problem on a carpeted floor but ours are smooth so I don't have that problem. The attachments work well.

Awesome vacuum
This is my second Shark Vertex, model az2002. The first one lasted 5 years. The plastic swivel component that attached to the floor vacuum literally broke in pieces, a small piece first, then a large piece, then all of it. It would still vacuum, but not stand up, nor could you maneuver it. Tried repairing, gave up. I replaced it with a Shark Navigator lift away. I had previously owned one of those. After using the Navigator for 7 or 8 months, I decided to go back to the Shark Vertex. My reasons were, the Vertex is self cleaning. I have a great Pyrenees and a shepherd Pyrenees mix, a 2 small dogs. I vacuum every other day. It takes forever when you have to stop and clean the brush roll out. I also have a shag area rug, and when using the Navigator, even with adjusting the suction, it was more of a work out and struggle. I started looking at the Vertex model and caught it on sale on Amazon, I won't say what I paid, but it's a lot cheaper than what the price is now. Having said all this, the Vertex is worth it. The suction surpasses the Navigator, and it even dusts your floors. Long dog hair, no problem, vacuuming the car, got it. I dont find it to be heavy, or cumbersome. The Navigator is a good vacuum, but for me the Vertex is worth it, even if I only get another 5 years out of it.

Cleans very well and fixes everything I didn't like about my old vacuum
I bought a Shark vacuum about 7 years ago and the brush roll motor recently went out. Parts for that model are hard to find and the cost was enough that I decided to upgrade rather than try to repair it. Even though it broke I was happy with my Shark but I wanted to upgrade to address some of the shortcomings of that model and settled on this Shark PowerDetect. What do I like? It's very easy to assemble prior to your first use. Just a couple of connections and you're off. It cleans very well. I have pets, and a girlfriend and daughter who both have long hair. It works significantly than my old model. You can see and feel the difference. I was vacuuming when my old model broke. When I got this one a couple of days later I went over the same section of floor and it pulled out more dirt than I'm comfortable admitting. It's gets 5 stars for it's main purpose of picking up dirt. I also like the detection feature that changes based on what type of floor you're on or how close you are to a wall. The scent pod is fantastic. I don't even care if it's a money-grab. It works. My old vacuum had a slight smell even after completely cleaning it out and replacing all filters. The brush roll that prevents hair from getting tangled around it might be my favorite part. It really works. I was constantly having to clean the brush roll on my old model and haven't had any hair get stuck on the roll on this new model. I also like the change they made to the dust cup. In the old model stuff would get stuck inside and I'd have to open it from the top and pull some hair/dirt out. I don't have that issue at all with this one. Everything gets emptied when you open the bottom. What do I not like? The attachment points are very stiff. If I take the wand off I have to press hard to get it to latch when I put it back. I'm hoping this loosens up a little over time. There were a few times I'd put the wand back and go to start vacuuming and it disconnected. While the suction is fantastic, I have a couple of small rugs that I can't go over because it will pull them off the floor into the roll. Finally, and this has only happened one time, the PowerDetect feature went a little haywire while vacuuming and the suction was fluctuating even though I was in the middle of a carpeted floor. Not near anything and not going between floor types. I turned it off and back on and haven't had the problem again, even vacuuming the same spot that I was doing at that time. Other things to note. On some surfaces the suction is so good that the vacuum will propel itself forward, particularly if you're using it with the tank lifted off of the base. I don't mind it, it just requires a little firmer grip than I'm used to. It's also noticeably heavier than my older model. Again, not a big deal for me but might be more of an issue for some. Overall I'm very happy and would buy it again.

Very powerful
Great vacuum! Has a LOT of suction power. It is large and a little heavy but maneuvers well. Attachments have a holder on the vacuum, which is convenient. The cord is long but is stiff and not as flexible as cords on other sharks I’ve had. The only negative I have is the size of the dust cup. It is much smaller than expected especially since the vacuum itself is so large.

Rose gold room sucker extraordinaire
I bought this a couple of months ago and started using it immediately. The only difficulty I had was figuring out where the heck on the machine the attachments go and it took a little bit of video in order to get the thing put together correctly. I love the three different levels of height for the head and it's very accessible on the top of the handle. The power on and off is very good and in a good location as well. I haven't found a way to lower the head to the ground without just pushing my foot on it there doesn't seem to be a release button anywhere that I can find but that may be an operator error if anybody finds it let me know. Otherwise I just push it with my foot and it drops to the ground. The basket opens on both ends so if something gets stuck at the top it's easy to get it out. There are filters inside two of them one kind of foamy and one kind of cloth like. They need to be cleaned or and or replaced depending on how much dirt you have, and if you have pets they seem to clog quicker though they haven't stopped working. I washed the one and let it completely dry before I reinsert it and that seem to work just fine. Extras are around $15 I think for a set of both if you want to order them at the same time. It has a larger basket than the t i n e c o that I've been using which I also like because frankly I was tired of changing the thing when I had only done a third of a room. The cord is fairly long but it is corded. You can detach it so that you can take it out to do your car or whatever which is very handy it's a little cumbersome but I consider that a bonus ability. I was truly impressed when I used it the first time since my other vacuum had broken it had been a while since I've been able to clean and this thing not only did a bang up job pulling up dust and cat hair but where my rocking chair sits it frequently pushes the rug foam down and this thing went over it and pulled the entire thing up so that in two swipes you couldn't even tell that a chair had been sitting there. It has a self-propel to it that works great as long as you aren't making turns that are really big and sharp then it tends to get a little difficult though not insurmountable. It does go under things fairly evenly but doesn't lay totally flat. You can detach the hose part and use one of the attachments to get underneath things otherwise. It has three attachments but only two places that I can find for attachments to be so one is just sitting on the shelf. Again that may be a me thing if anybody finds where the third piece attaches let me know. All in all I'm very impressed with this thing it has great section and usability and I happen to like the rose gold color that it came in. It stores in a pretty small space in the closet or laundry room but it doesn't have a hanging Mount or anything that you can do for it. Highly recommend AAA.

Item works for my needs
The first one purchased a week ago did not work after assembly. Returned and repurchased. Nice and sleek looking rose gold accents. Detaches easily with a one touch motion. Hose snaps and lock into place, a plus compared to other units. Unit pulls forward with a slight ease, eliminating the need to forcefully push. The pull back takes a bit more effort, slightly more effort than with other units I previously owned. The weight of the unit may be the result of the tension in the pull back. The weight appears to be on the medium side, when in use with the pull back motion, and lifting and/or carrying the unit. The hose attachment and powerful suction did a good job cleaning baseboards. The removal of the dust cup makes it very easy to vacuum underneath sofas and other surfaces, unlike any other vacuum cleaner I've owned. Rinse to clean of the reusable filters is a money saver. Removable soft roller is a plus for easy cleaning and accessibility for detangling of hairs and other objects. Typical long cord as seen with most vacuum cleaners. Attachments need a bit of force to get on and off of the detachable wand, putting a slight strain on my arthritic joints. Perhaps a locking snap and push button release mechanisms could enhance this minor issue. Hopely, one day Shark could come out with a longer upright handle to a vacuum cleaner for tall people and those of us with arthritic joints and the bending motions used in vacuuming. Otherwise, this item works for my needs.

Great upright. Disappointing lift-away vestiges.
Shark Stratos AZ3002. Pros: Great cleaning. Picks up dirt from previously vacuumed carpets. If you plan to use this only as an "upright" without the lift-away feature it is a fine vacuum. Buy it. Cons: Maneuverability isn't bad, but is nowhere near my old Shark UV810 that it replaced. There are only vestiges of the "lift-away" feature that helped make Shark successful with vacuums. The powerhead is wider and heavier, as is the lift-away portion. The wider powerhead may look like an advantage but it is not. I was disappointed my old UV810 had such a small head until I used it and found how easily it maneuvered under and around things. It could also be "steered" easily by turning the wrist. It could even be used easily on stairs with the lift-away feature and with the power button on the removable portion. The on-off power switch has been moved from the lift-away portion where it fell right under the thumb while carrying it, to the handle. Fine for use as an upright, but now need a third hand to operate it as a lift-away or when using tools. The dust container on my Shark UV810 emptied cleanly and easily. It convinced me "bagless" vacuums can be OK. As others have said, the dust container on the AZ3002 is a disaster. Popping it open with the new lever approach sends dust everywhere. Closing it up again sends dust everywhere. I am exploring solutions but it may require taking it outside to empty into the trash. The cord on the AZ3002 is shorter than our old UV810. This is more annoying than you might expect. Features other than pros and cons: The brush roll does seem to be self-cleaning as advertised. It is no longer "brushes," but fins. The old brush was easy and economical to replace. The main roller on the AZ3002 is no longer replaceable. We'll see if it holds up. The brightness of the lights on the AZ3002 disappoint compared to our old UV810, but are fine. They still don't work with the wand and tools. Several reviewers found the cord stiff. I wouldn't have noticed. Yes, as others have noted, tools will not stay on the storage pegs. Plan to carry them around with you. In summary, the AZ3002 excels at cleaning rugs and floors. I miss the convenient lift-away features on our old UV810. I always used it with the lift-away separated, which is now impractical.
