Holy Bible, Catholic Companion Edition

I am extremely picky when it comes to picking a Bible. This one is excellent. Very nice and well made. The leather is very nice. The edges of the pages are marked so you can easily find the book. The ribbon is well made. Best of all the footnotes are on the pages and not in the back of each book. Makes it very convenient to read them. The pages are not too thin so not much bleed through. Overall an excellent Bible. You won’t be sorry you purchased it.

Excellent condition. Had all the extras -- picture of the current Pope -- as well as a listing of all the Popes. This is a great study aid. Especially enjoyed the fact that the "Sea Monsters" are denoted as such in this English translation as it correlates perfectly with the Torah; that is, our Hebrew fellows translate it into the English as "sea monsters" versus "great whales" as denoted in the King James version. (Genesis 1:21) Or as denoted in the N.I.V. as "great creatures of the sea." Sometimes accuracy is important. It is also very disturbing to discover that the protestant bibles has cut the last two chapters of Daniel from the book. Read these in the Catholic Bible and discover that Daniel was thrown into the lion's den on two different occasions! Also that Daniel destroyed a dragon! All of us should obtain these various books and quote directly from them and not allow any "they say thus and so" to go unchallenged and/or unverified.

I got this as my family's first Holy Bible. When I first got it out of the box, I was so excited and happy to see it, finally! The leather feels so good to touch, it is marvelous. The production quality is extremely high. At first, while browsing through the pages just to get a feel of it, I thought I was missing pages, when in fact the pages are so delicately thin that they are actually stuck together near the edge! Please carefully separate them, and you'll see those missing pages magically appear, like how Jesus broke five loaves of bread and two fish to feed FIVE THOUSAND people! (Matthew 14:13-21) Also, I love how there's a built-in rosary on the back of the bible! The beads are indented onto the beautiful leather binding.

I love everything about this Bible and will be passing it down to my son someday. The feel of it, the weight, the size, it's perfect. The rosary on the back is especially meaningful, as it represents the Catholic faith, so even while holding the Bible closed, your fingers can feel the rosary beads and feel a special connection to the Book. I love that all weekly readings are included, as well as the 3 year readings, and each book is noted on what page they begin, to find it easily. Very interesting readings in the front of it, about the books, the meaning of them, beliefs and history. Font and size make it easy to read, in all, the best Catholic Bible I have found (and I'm very picky and researched a lot of them!!)

I love this bible. The leather bound cover feels wonderful when holding the book while reading. It's not too hard... not too soft. The pages have the gold edging which isn't really a plus or minus for me. The pages are very thin... but this allows for the complete bible in a compact package that's easy to carry. If you had thicker pages, the bible would need to be much bigger or the print much smaller. I just ordered and received the 4th of these that I have owned. The first two were gifts and I have purchased two myself. I keep buying them because I also keep giving them away :) When I encounter someone who admires it and we talk about it... I usually wind up filling in the gift page and handing it to them and asking them to please enjoy it. I will continue to buy and give away this bible as long as I'm moved to do so :)

Purchased for myself. As the first Catholic bible I've owned since childhood, this one is perfect. High quality. 100% recommended!

Positives: This is a great quality Bible which I would recommend to any Catholic. I took it to my priest to be blessed and he commented that it was a beautiful Bible and hadn't seen one like it. It comes embossed on the front with a Crucifix and the rear is embossed with a Holy Rosary. Includes a full succession of Popes from St Peter to Pope Francis, maps, reference aids, encyclopedic dictionary, 3 year cycle readings, etc. Plenty of informative content which I found very impressive. Negatives: Only one ribbon marker No thumb markers for each book (there is a page index for each book at the front) Jesus' spoken Word is not highlighted in red The positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion. But if the publishers could take care of the negatives mentioned, this would be the absolutely perfect Bible.

I love this Bible! I read the reviews and read about many different bibles, and selected the Companion Bible due to the NABRE and the publisher, Fireside. I love the way it feels, how the pages turn. This Bible is well worth the price and I highly recommend.

Worth having one. The rosary design on the cover is good.
