It Works!
I live in a rural area where we get a lot of visitor cats that never have collars or tags, so it's hard to discern whether they're strays or just outdoor cats. We also see a lot of dogs just roaming the neighborhood and surrounding area that also typically don't have collars or tags. The closest veterinary office is a 20-30 minute drive, so bringing an animal in to check for a microchip would be a process. I figured I would give this thing a shot because it would be nice to have a scanner on hand to at least check if an animal is microchipped. Operation is one button, and the scanner picks up chips instantly as soon as one is near. I tested it on my own animals and it was very easy to find their microchips. You do need to be quite close but that's typically how these scanners work. I couldn't quite figure out the software though. It just seemed to give me the option of changing settings rather than being able to view the tag numbers I had already scanned. Overall, if you care about stray animals and want an option to be able to check if an animal is chipped, this is a great option for keeping in your car or in a handbag as it is very small and lightweight, and it works very well.

Easy chip scanner! (used for strays & tested on our pets)
Sadly a lot of stray cats end up at our door and I was looking for something to scan them quickly instead of trying to catch / trap / transport them to a local vet for microchip checks each time. This is a small device (smaller than an iPhone in the photo for reference) and came fully charged / ready to go. It does include a cable. Basically you press the center blue button & it is on / ready to scan. Next you wave it around slowly behind the pets head, near the shoulder blades and in that general area until the reader either pops up a chip number or reads "no tag". It does make noise (beeps) when turning on and then again when a chip is or is not found. The noise may scare some animals. I recommend getting the animals used to the sound & being touched first if at all possible as you do need to get close. You do not need to use the upload data feature or create an account to use this, but be prepared to have just a very short while to take a photo of the number that pops up (I doubt you'd have time to write it down). I did test this on our cats to ensure it was working (they all have the 15 digit microchip number, so I cannot confirm if it works or not for other chip types as the most recent stray came up "no chip" after multiple tests). The scanner accurately read our pets' microchip numbers quickly. It is light weight, and seemingly good quality. Once you have the chip number you can do a reverse lookup to find which microchip company issued that number (e.g. via the website aaha.org microchip registry lookup), then contact that specific microchip company (e.g. 24Petwach, HomeAgain, etc..) to see if it is registered to an owner & try to contact the owner. Other than the noise and the short amount of time you have to view the chip number, this is a great handy gadget and is a very good price.

Easy to use
Seems like a good scanner. Quickly and accurately found the microchips I presented to it and is rechargeable. It does connect to your computer but I have not tried that functionality. Overall it's a good value for money.

Works and worth the money.
Was able to scan out dog and got able to find her microchip number (the number is blacked out in the picture). It did not work with our cats, but they were chipped over 10 years ago and the product description did indicate that it doesn't work with all chips. I was able to lookup up our dog's microchip number on Aaha.org and found the microchip company it was last registered to so that we could update our dog's info. Glad I got it.

Disable beep— it frightens stray cats
Works great and quickly reads FDX-B 15-digit chips. However, the beeping noise scares off stray cats. There’s no software way to disable it — you’ll need to open the device. Remove the 3 tiny screws from the back. On the bottom-right of the circuit board, you’ll see a small black square component with a plus sign and an arrow. Insert a toothpick under the arrow side and pry off the small cap. This permanently disables the beeping. Now I’m happy with the device.

Great reader- used it on Fi Nano microchips
This read RFID ear tags perfectly. One note- it can't read a dog microchip in the package- I'm guessing because the metal needle blocks the signal. Once the microchip was out of the needle and in the dog, it worked perfectly. I used it on the Fi Nano chips. 10 outta 10 recommend.

Easily recognized four chips
We had a stray cat that showed up and I was concerned someone was missing it. So I purchased this scanner after reading the reviews. It worked out perfectly. I turned it on, waved it about 2 inches in a circular motion over the shoulder blades and it read a chip. From there I made a call to our local humane society with the chip number I received from the scanner, and from there the sequence of events following that cat was safely reunited with its owner. I had previously scanned my own pets, and it precisely recognized their chips. Note, it only provides you with the chip number, no owner contact information. This is handy to have, simple to use, and worked well for me.

Handlich, tut seinen Dienst
Ich habe das Gerät an unseren Haustieren getestet. Es hat bei allen vieren einwandfrei funktioniert. Die Chipnummer erscheint lange genug, dass man davon bequem ein Foto mit dem Smartphone schießen kann.
