Together at last! After four seasons of sparring and heated banter, TV's dynamic crime-solving team finds romance in ABC's CASTLE: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON. Relive all 24 unforgettable episodes, complete with never-before-seen bonus features only available on DVD, in this spectacular five-disc set. Now that Castle and Beckett ("Caskett") have finally given in to their true feelings for each other, how will it affect their work together? As they try to keep their new relationship under wraps from their co-workers, the unlikely duo must track down the murderer of Beckett's mother, find the perpetrator of a major conspiracy and untangle a line of investigation that links Castle to a ritualistic killing. The action and passion heat up like never before in the brilliant fifth season of ABC's CASTLE! Review: A great season (prior season spoilers) - +++Warning, this contains spoilers from the prior season but no major giveaways from season five.+++ The fifth season picks up with Castle and Beckett in the afterglow of finally hooking up and Beckett pretty hilariously sneaking out of Castle's place when Martha brings home a hungover Alexis. The season premiere also brings in the great Jack Coleman (from Heroes) and inserts him in a major way into the storyline involving Beckett's mother. The rest of the season manages to follow a similar case-of-the-week format that also weaves serial arcs in and out throughout the season. This season also includes the show's 100th episode which is a pretty hilarious take on the movie Rear Window. There is also an episode that has multiple nods to the series Firefly, including Fillion dressing up like his character Mal (and Alexis making fun of him for it). The show does a good job introducing obstacles and tension into the Castle-Beckett relationship to keep the show from getting stale after the leads finally get together. The DVD extras include deleted scenes, a gag reel, a few behind-the-scenes featurettes, and commentary tracks on selected episodes. So, there is quite a bit of material for those who like going through the bonus features. Overall, the series continues to be a good blend of drama a comedy. Fillion and Katic have very good onscreen chemistry in this season, and if the alleged personal issues that led to the end of the show had started between the two of them, it was not obvious in the episodes. The writing and acting were very good and the show ended on yet another cliffhanger. If you have liked the prior seasons of the show, you will probably still like this season. You definitely will want to watch the prior seasons before jumping into this one because, while the episodes are mostly self-contained, there is a lot of character development that has happened up to this point that is helpful to have seen. Review: CASTLES & QUEENS; SEASON FIVE - I title this season (5) CASTLES AND QUEENS because I think the primary actor (Nathan Fillion) and actress (Stana Katic) are virtually king and queen of the murder, comedy, and melodrama series on TV and I include BONES, THE MENTALIST along with CASTLE. All 3 shows are excellent but seem to follow similar story lines. I have all the episodes of the three shows on DVD or video libraries (from desertcart of course!) and they all have their virtues and vices. But Beckett is so charming and hot, one wonders why Castle took so long to get together with her. It does seem that all the women (Bones, Beckett and Lizbon) have walls built around them fearing to get to close to anyone. They all have problems in their childhood perhaps that caused these walls to be built. In this season we have quite a variety of story lines, from Alexi being kidnapped (two part episode) to mocking STAR TREK, to romantic interludes, Castle being framed, and poking fun and horror stories. Like the other shows these five seasons has a great supporting cast (Ryan and Esposito) and a nasty female boss who for some odd reason wants to be addressed as "sir". And like other shows there are very obnoxious people, specifically Castles mother: arrogant, a moocher and a big spender (of Castles money). She reminds me of that old hag in "SUNSET STRIP" who dreamt of making a comeback in movies: "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr DeMille!" She repels me like Dr Sweets in BONES, a lousy actor who doesn't know the first thing about psychology! But overall, an excellent, very entertaining series with superb acting, fine photography and gooey special effects. I noticed the gooeyness seems to gotten more messy from the earlier series: influenced by BONES perhaps. Some excellent aerial shots of Manhattan, though I live in NYC I haven't been to Manhattan in some years. I put Stana Katic right up there with Emily Deschanel and Robin Tunney as the "Persons I would most like to meet!!". Lovely, sexy and great actresses to boot. Live long and Prosper, CASTLE!

BEST WRITING OF ALL!
I was reluctant to start watching yet another show. I'm up to date season-wise on several other shows, all of which are quite popular and average 4.5/5 stars consistently. I saw this show I'd never heard of called "Castle" and it consistently got 5/5 stars with over 1000 reviews!?! I had to at least put it in my wish list to ponder. It stayed there for about a year. I was caught up watching my other shows (NCIS (the one with Gibbs), Criminal Minds, GRIMM, Hawaii 5-0, Bones, The Closer (before it ended), House (before it ended), CSI: NY (before it ended), Rizolli and Isles, and Major Crimes), so I finally decided to give Castle a try. WOW! So far all 5 seasons are funny, have great action, the show's main storyline is a new idea, it's been cast VERY WELL, and the acting is GREAT. However, the thing I think is the greatest about it is the WRITING!! How they are able to come up with such great story ideas so consistently is amazing! All the other shows have excellent writing as well, but I can usually figure out "who did it" or how it's going to end about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through. Not in Castle. I have been wrong about 95% of the time to the point where I've almost given up trying, but that doesn't take away from the viewing experience ... it adds to it! These reviews often have spoilers, but I'm not gonna do that because I don't need to. I'll just say this is one helluva GREAT show that you should consider, but start FROM THE BEGINNING (Season 1) as it is best seen in order. I hope the writers of Castle are able to stay this creative for several more years.

Writing and acting even better than ever in Season 5 - another winner
As a longtime Castle fan I like this season's writing and acting a lot; the cleverness and nuances of plotlines and chemistry among the actors is at an all time high. In Season 5 the relationship between Castle and Beckett develops further as they initially try to keep their romance private from co-workers. Storylines are very well-told and well-thought out. Castle's intelligent screenplays and wonderful ensemble cast continues to shine. Castle's my favorite show and has been for the last couple years. Why? Because the writing and characters are believable, engaging, fun to watch and captivating. I initially started watching this because Nathan Fillion was so outstanding in Joss Whedon's legendary "Firefly" series (which I still re-watch often) and I wanted to see him in other roles. Speaking of which it's great to see guest stars and rare Firefly homages in Castle (eg Final Frontier ep, thanks; it's appreciated :). Nice saucer easter egg in the menu in one in the Castle season 5 dvds. Castle is easily one of the top shows to be produced in recent years, well worth watching, and it's great to see that the evolving relationship of Castle and Beckett is still edgy and fun, not having lost anything 'the morning after' -- masterfully written scripts and brilliant acting helps Castle continue to shine. Thanks everyone for doing it right. -Ken

Wonder series and so is watching using Amazon Prime
My Son-in-Law agreed to give Castle a try (after we finished all 12 seasons of Bones on DVD). (My spouse and I watched Castle separately and together during its run on ABC.) At first my Son-in-Law didn't think he'd like watching Castle (this was while watching Bones), but by the middle of the first episode he said he was hooked. We're now on season 7 and we, both, find it fun and an enjoyable time together. I could go into specifics about season 5 and why we love it and even discuss the individual episodes, but . . . there are other places (e.g. Wikipedia, TV.com, IMDB, etc) to get reviews on both the season and episodes. In this review, I'm simply saying we found watching the series enjoyable and hope you'll give it a try, too. I'm rating it 5 stars both for the content (the season and series) and the delivery method - Amazon Video. We watched the episode using various platforms: Amazon Fire TV (Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD) w/Sony 32" HDTV Windows 10 (Opera browser) Amazon Show 2nd generation Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (64GB) Son-in-Law's Kindle. The best place (for us) was the Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD on the Sony 32 inch HDTV (1080 p60). The other platforms were for "just to see" how they worked out.

Great show, highly recommend. all seasons! (except the last - Season 8)
Great show, love the development of the relationship between Castle and Beckett which sometimes though, there are so many twists and ups and downs in the developmental steps toward a relationship, you wonder, when in the world are they ever going to just straight up tell each other how they feel and get together? But there are so many tender moments, where you can see one or the other fighting their feelings for the other (usually but not always it's Beckett fighting her feelings). It's just a great show and the chemistry between the 2 main characters is great... until after the end of Season 7. With Season 8, the last season, not really a fan. All others are really good overall.

Love Castle!
I recenty started watching castle and I bought season 5 to catch up becuase i couldnt find it for free anywhere else. I love the quality of the SD, and di not missed the HD quality at all from my computer or phone. The only thing I didn't like was that I left my computer on pause and when trying to pick it up on my phone/kindle I couldnt... I had to dowload the whole episode to see the last 20 min from it becuase I left it on pause, I wished it would had pick it up with out hassle. I'm in love with this series, and even that I'm a late fan I'm looking foward for season 6.

Five of five
While I do have a television, I don't have a satellite, cable, "rabbit ears", etc. I have Netflix and DVD's. The quality of television that I was getting just wasn't worth the expense. The exceptions to that include CASTLE. I can watch the shows on the computer but how much more fun is it to have the Seasons to watch when I please. The relationship between Castle and Beckett was not only long awaited but also feared. How often we've seen relationship status change and totally ruin the show. (A lot of you don't remember the resulting train wreck of "MOONLIGHTING" but, trust me, it wasn't pretty.) My favorite episodes are worth watching over and over, the others still are good television. I think the series could work a little harder on expanding the characters (except for the daughter Alexis - her lack of respect and snide remarks directed toward a man who puts a very nice roof over her head, food on the table and pocket money continues to be a sore spot with me. I was thrilled when she went off to college and I'm hoping for elopement and a move to parts unknown.) The story lines continue to be interesting which is probably not as easy as it once was as they enter into Season 6. They have allowed considerable growth in Fillion's character while still maintaining some of the playfulness. The occasional FIREFLY reference still tickles us diehard fans but this show stands on it's own and has done a wonderful job of doing so.

Excellente saison !!!!

Castle And Becket
Nathan Fillion and Stata Kanic play the play the parts of the 2 main characters with absolute brilliance, I was completely hooked on the series from day one, after watching the first 2 series was sat at home wondering when season 3 would be screened so when I went onto the Amazon site to look for the first 2 seasons on dvd I was ecstatic to find a boxed set of seasons 1-4, ( I have now watched all 4 seasons several times and it does not lose its likeability, I was left feeling that it could not end like this and that there must be at least 1 more season so I was really happy to see that number 5 was being shot this year, and even happier to find that I could purchase the dvd for this in November of 2013 I am eagerly looking forward to being able to sit down and watch this, I do hope that the writer and the company who produce Castle feel that there is more they can do after 5 it would be a shame not to carry on with more of the superb story lines that we have already seen and more of Nathan, and Stata as Castle and Beckett the character of Castle is for me joint No 1 with Gibbs from NCIS, and Beckett is No 1 in my top three with No 2 Megan Hunt (Body of Proof), and Ziva David (NCIS)lets have more of this quality of both writing and acting for the small screen.

Of course a must for all Castle fans
Although I saw all the episodes as they were broadcast, they are better seen without interruption and at a viewing time of one's own choice. And sometimes it does take a couple of viewings to catch all the details. So having the disks on hand is a pleasure. This season contains another 26 super episodes. My favorites being the Falling Santa and the Lives of Others (100th). The whole Castle series is outstanding due to the magic dance between Stana and Nathan and the careful dialogue of the screenplay. But it is also refreshing to see a series based on solving crimes though observation, careful detective work and clever deductions (rather than as in the other TV programs where the "solutions" are always bigger guns and more violence). It is also great to see a program with real people and not have the story rely on characters with magic qualities and super-hero powers. Kate's dedication to finding the real guilty party and ensuring justice for the victims is inspiring. And Castle's offbeat theories are amusing and fun to see how they morph and play out to reality. The Castle series is to be highly recommended as fun to watch and instructive for understanding human relationships and families.
