An Assassin’s Creed Comic Book of Missed Potential
This is the 2nd Assassin’s Creed comic book I’ve gotten into so far. The Conspiracies Collection was an excellent read and this does continue the story set from the WWII series. The art style and color is fantastic and fun to look at. Only thing I have about it in relation to my rating is that the newly introduced characters spew out a lot of nods to what is established in canon( movie included). So you have to pay attention to what the characters explain because it comes back in a pay off later. Unlike the previous literation of Conspiracies, this doesn’t explore the Vietnam War that much and the title character doesn’t do much of anything compared to his hooded military-robed appearance on the book cover which is disappointing. All in all, while the book adds a new historical setting and adds new lore to the story; it becomes hard to follow what is going on and the setting is under utilized to the fullest potential. If you are a Assassin’s Creed fan you just might enjoy it. But if a casual reader getting into the series and it’s lore, this may be too much to take in as a beginner.
