## Description

This LightSnake cable is a USB cable which has 1/4' and XLR adaptors for connection of both musical instruments and microphones. The LightSnake instrument cable is basically a 'sound card on a cable' and with this cable you can record audio directly onto your computer and listen to the audio from your computer all on the same cable. This is a true USB plug-n-play connection. No additional drivers are needed for most operating systems. The freeware ASIO driver ASIO4ALL available at ASIO4ALL com works perfectly with the cable for recording software that implements this technology, also a cable specific ASIO driver is forthcoming. The interface end of the USB cable has a jack that either the 1/4' or XLR adaptor connects to and jack for the provided ear buds, this is a stereo 1/8' jack that will also work with a set of powered monitors There are volume controls on cable for headset volume and there is also a mute button. "Unpluged: A industrial accident"

*by A***. on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 12, 2011*

Sigh... I don't know where to begin, First and foremost this is just my opinions based on my experience with this product.Secondly, if you buy/bought this product that's your decision. When I bought this product two weeks ago to use for my ambient styled industrial techno music I was overjoyed and excited because I thought i could plug my guitar into my Mac (OS X 10.4.11) and use with logic and garage band. The first problem I ran into is that I JUST GOT IT TODAY. how is that possible? according to them and i quote "I found the package the other day. It turns out the postal carriersomehow missed it."I guess its the lack of communication between The UPS and The company that sold me this Indescribably odd thing that only works with my electric acoustic violin with electric switch on the side, and my "old school" electric piano. Okay fine. It didn't work with my guitar and when i looked at the box it showed a guitar being plugged-in to a computer( that pisses me off;) After an hour or two trying to figure out how to set up the THING(mine you, i am currently a psychology major; I also have some knowledge of audio engineering), it works well. well in the sense that you can record real instruments, and they sound like they were recorded in a recording studio. the downfall is that the headphones get tangled up easily with the small interface thing. and there is some feedback. I just got frustrated and gave up. The only good thing that comes to mind is that i wish that they come make a multi-color flashing interface USB end so i could buy 50 from (insert your local music store that is going to send your package on time) and wear them around my body when i perform live.

Antiquated tech that does the job (with some effort)

*by D***Y on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 13, 2020*

Wow. Technology really moves in a decades time. When I purchased this in 2009 it seemed like a great way to record via USB hook-up to my p.c. It turned out to be a bit convoluted and cumbersome. In 2020 I'll just use my phone and honestly get better recordings. Thats not really a review of this products functions as it is a critique of recording methods. Honestly if you really try to use this thing you will be able to record to p.c., but it's a lot of effort at this point.

    Interferes with other programs

*by T***7 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 5, 2009*

I have not fully explored what is possible with this item, and I admit that. However, once I had installed the drivers, they interfered with my recording with the Audacity program I usually use. The sound was very thin and every syllable was truncated. When I uninstalled the drivers, my Audacity operation was restored to its ability to accurately record sounds.
