Top notch quality.
Such an odd measuring tool. Didn't even know these existed until a couple years ago. We use these at work to measure amount of waviness in our steel products. Checking size of gap under straight edge. For our needs it works perfectly. a bit more expensive than I would like to see, but it is of the highest quality.

Still made in the USA
Box is still marked Made in USA. I even called Starrett customer service, and they too informed me that this taper gauge is still made in Athol, Massachusetts. It's honestly a lot of money for a piece of metal, but I also don't have to question it's accuracy, because that's what I need. In the metrology lab, it's dead on for all gradients and markings.

A must have for Rail Installation
We used these gauges at work to check the cant of the rail. This is an industry-standard tool anyone doing rail should own. Quality product.

Very inaccurate due to laser etching
Very inaccurate. This is laser etched, which has a raised delineations and numbers on both sides the metric and the imperial side. The old style had an etched scale, which was below the wedge surface, making it very accurate. This item is produced in China and I wouldn’t buy another one on a bet. Star has lost all credibility with me. I have red boxes stacked in my shop from old Starrett. I see no reason to be loyal to a company that got rid of 90% of their factory workers to make a buck in China with inferior product.

Very nice specially tool
Very handy if you are tired of using a bunch of feeler gauges to measure generator air gaps or large engine clearances. Nice hard metal too and the numbers don’t wear off.

Super Messkeil, damit kann man misstrauische Bauherren gut überzeugen, das kleine Überzähne bei der Fliesenverlegung kein Mangel ist. Sehr gutes Teil.
