For starters, the seller is top notch! And this filter is truly amazing. It keeps your AC system from recycling, pet dander and even some kinds of pollen and definitely dust! My kids have eczema and they could feel the difference with this. It is the only brand I buy.

Nice quality, but super small compared to the Lennox or Honeywell Home 20 x 20 x 4. Rests lopsided in our Lennox system. Easy to install, but just too narrow. Measure twice before ordering

Here's a little story. I recently purchased a top-of-the-line air purifier/fan from a company that has a funny-shape, like that of a long vertical loop. You might know who they are. This purifier measures impurities as they are cleaned (using piezo electronic technology), and sends the information to a small screen, and to an app on your smartphone. Some will want to look into this...it's quite amazing. To my surprise, however, the air purifier made little difference to the air in my living space, as indicated by the collected data in the app. I do have dust, which gets wiped and vacuumed every now and then (not nearly as often as I'd like). But it made me wonder why the air was already so clean, as measured by this purifier system. While I currently have a lower MERV 8 filter in place, I usually have used this MERV 13 for the better part of 10 years. I sometimes switch it up in summer or winter with more AC/heater use, as when the filters go to higher numbers, airflow does become less efficient (albeit the air is cleaner). About the only reason I can surmise that the expensive air purifier/fan unit wasn't detecting many impurities, is the general ongoing use of this MERV 13 filter. I do not have pets, but I used to, and such filters really made a difference then. I still don't clean here nearly as much as I'd like, but relatively speaking, it's fairly clean. These filters really have to be the reason. Going from a standard spun-fiberglass filter (nearly useless) to a MERV 8 will make a dramatic difference in air quality. You'll still see some dust on surfaces and in your vacuum's collection container, but it is noticeably smaller particulate. However, going to this MERV 13 makes an almost equally dramatic step change again. There will be some dust (there always is), but it's very fine. When new, a MERV 13 can potentially filter down to Particulate Matter 2.5, which is tiny. Keep in mind, you should heed the 90-day limit. As the filter does its job, it's much more easily clogged, slowing airflow and making your HVAC work harder. I actually recommend starting with a MERV4-6 to get the 'big stuff' out, and doing a vacuum & carpet clean. In 90 days, go to MERV8, and finally to this MERV13 (and higher, if you dare...MERV18+ can get you almost dust free, but your electric bill may be higher and this level is hard to sustain unless you are cleaning weekly). After a few months, you will see and probably feel the difference when breathing. You could start right off with this MERV13 if you like, but if you've never used such a high-rating before, it might need changing in just a month. I find the ~MERV13 rating level is a good trade-off between air cleanliness and economy, particularly if it means you don't have to buy a high-end air purifier.

Absolutely applaud at the misleading of this company and the quality of the air filters. After deciding to try out these “higher air quality rated filters”, and in bulk for a cheaper price than name brand, the last two weeks we have noticed more build up than usual of dust- even while having a top of the line air purifier running nearly 24/7 in our apartment. Also, we have noticed all three of our fur kids scratching more lately (they are indoors only and treated with flea prevention anyways just for extra measures with apartment life) but my husband and I have also been sneezing more, coughing, have had throat irritations, and most importantly to note- I’ve had asthma flair ups for the first time all year, nearly every day for the last week. One of our fur kids has also had significant respiratory problems arise in the last few weeks. I have dusted, I’ve vacuumed, I’ve aired the apartment out via windows at night, never once considering the air filter because it is advertised to last up to 3 months and we had just installed it on the first of July. Well after noticing a musty smell every time the air conditioner kicks on the last few days, and yet another asthma attack this morning, I got to wondering finally and decided to check out the air filter and ac closet……… HOLY SMOKES was I freaked out?!?! After just one months time, the air filter (advertised as a MERV 13) was BLACK and thick with mold and dust on BOTH SIDES of the filter. I cannot believe that we have been breathing all of this in!!!! I’m infuriated honestly. It has literally been exactly one month and two days since placing that filter in our unit. We have never, EVER, had such a problem with Filtrete brand filters so we are going back to those!! Please do yourself a favor and DONT waste your money and your HEALTH on these.
