Passenger side - right side mirror for passenger cars and SUV's in the US and Canada is convex and as a result objects in these mirrors indeed look farther than they really are, hence the insignia on the mirror "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear". Even the original mirror is convex. Only driver side - left side mirror is flat. The above are requirements according to highway safety acts in effect in both US and Canada.
