This is an excellent product from an excellent company
I ordered these hinges to replace the ones that were broken on my attic staircase. They are the right design and sturdy enough to support weight. Installation was easy with directions provided. Unfortunately, I discovered after the fact that my stairs had been "retrofitted" and so these hinges ended up not working for my weird staircase. So, I had to send the hinges back. But this company has excellent communication skills and provided a refund to me very quickly. I would buy products from this company again any time. They do business the right way--good quality products, fair pricing, and great communication. Five stars!

Watch the year of mfg date on the attic stairs
Excellent quality! I mean fit, functionality, appearance. These are (for the right year of stairs) a great replacement hinge set. They were just too short for my situation. Would highly recommend. They were professionally packaged and hardware was included.

Fit my Werner 1990 model attic ladder perfectly
After reading the reviews on this product, it looked like the perfect replacement. Yes, in fact it was the perfect replacement! Each hinge is marked R or L so you know which one to put on each side and it is looking from the bottom of the ladder up into the attic. My hinge had folded over probably due to age and the strength of the spring. I was able to take a Dremmel tool and saw off the rivet holding the damaged arm on (mine was the right one if you are looking into the attic from below). Once I did that, I took a drill bit (it recommends 5/16), and I predrilled a hole through the hole that was provide where the rivet was. I then took the new arm and placed the washer on the lag bolt and tightened it using my drill. Not so tight that it wouldn't move but barely loosened it so the arm could move. I then tightened down the lower part of the arm that attaches to the ladder, then I climbed in the attic and had my son close the ladder door. I then took the spring and attached it to the upper part of the arm. It literally took 30 minutes. It's good as new now.

Works... for now.
I bought these hinges to replace a mismatched pair that had failed. These went in surprisingly easy. The directions were clear, the fit excellent. My only hesitation is they BEND inward when in use. This may be by design but it makes me question how long they will last as it was similar bending which destroyed the last pair. I'd have preferred hinges that did not bend so much.

Lag screw broke on install
The hinges seem to be excellent quality, but Iโll have to wait to find out, as the first lag screw I was installing sheered off. This was done with a ratchet rather than a screw gun as it is a 1/2โ head on a 5/16โ screw. Maybe get some better quality screws from HD to ensure this doesnโt happen to you.

Arrives stiff. Before installation, you must lubricate the pivot points with oil.
When I took the arms out of the box, I noticed that the joints were stiff. So, I lubricated the joints with oil (Andis Clipper Oil...but any general purpose oil would work) and spun them around and gently flexed them in and out until the joints moved freely. After this, the installation went smoothly, and the ladder now works better than ever.

Heavy duty. Works on Kentucky ladder 53882-01
Seems more heavy duty than original. Instructions say drill out the rivet but I used a saw; easier I think. I was able to replace it by myself working from below. Just attach the linkage to the wood ladder hole as the last step so that you can pull down the linkage to stretch the spring.

Fit as needed
Replaced the old ones had a slight modification to fit Memphis stairs but works perfect. This was not for Memphis (out of bz) so made my own bracket to fit these. Way cheaper than new stairs.

Bent in a month and a half.
Hate how hard these are to get. I installed them and they already bent a month and a half in. I can't pull down my attic door now actually because both arms bend into the elbow and won't allow it to extend.
