Puree comes out, skin stays in the press. The clever prongs on the plate make sure that no garlic gets stuck in the press, roughly doubling the amount of puree that comes out if you're just doing one clove. I've tried it side by side with the (very good) industry-standard IKEA KONCIS press and this is much better in all ways. Other reviews mention a lack of durability. As new it seems solid as a rock, but I'll update this if it does break.

**Q: Approx. How many cloves of garlic fit in the presser at once?**
A: The crushing basket is very small.  I find I have to cut any decent sized clove in half.  That said, it does a great job of crushing the garlic to very, very small pieces, e.g. what you want for great garlic butter.  It’s also super sturdy.

**Q: Was this product made in China?**
A: Yes, Made in China

**Q: Can you take it apart for cleaning?**
A: I’m sure you can, but with the simple design you can just clean the entire thing. I didn’t take apart, just soaked it in warm soapy water and it was clean.
