Pro-Ject Clamp It Record Clamp (Silver)

Upgraded to the acrylic platter and needed a clamp. A weight didn't cut it. This functions nicely. It clamps to the spindle and keeps the record stationary against the platter. It seems well built. While a bit pricey, it has some nice detailing. Watching it spin is quite hypnotic.

I should’ve listened to the reviews. This thing is really terrible. Doesn’t always clamp on. It looks nice but if it doesn’t work what’s the point. In also worried about longevity based on the other reviews. What a waste of money. Especially for the price.

This is more of a stabilizer than a clamp. It doesn't screw down, but rather you press firmly to the record and twist the knob to hold it in place. A true clamp would have a threaded screw-down system and a small washer under the record to cup/force the disk down flat on the platter...not what this ClampIT does... However, this little stabilizer works well. When used with the LeatherIT mat, it really tightens up the bass and brings the HF into sharp focus. A must for users of the Pro-Ject Classic EVO turntable package. Should use with the Leather IT platter mat as well.

I considered a lot of different record clamps before choosing this one. Pro-Ject is well respected as a manufacturer of turntables, and an audiophile friend encouraged me to give this clamp a try. It turned out to be a great product, and though a bit expensive is worth its cost IMO. It’s relatively light weight, clamps the disc firmly to the platter, and most importantly improves the audio signal in subtle ways: bass is just a bit tighter; midrange (especially vocals) has more presence with a wider/deeper soundstage, and treble has more clarity. All-in-all, I find that there is an overall improvement in the listening experience with it as opposed to not having it before.

The clamp looks shiny, and a good quality but very unfortunately I found some scratches there and have to replace the clamp since the price is not cheep so that I expect a perfect condition!

You could pay more for one, but this one functions great! It’s also a good look on the table! The weight is good also!

Just got mine & so far, I'm impressed! Main thing I've noticed is a tightness & increase in bass even to the most inner tracks! My Turntable is the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB DC. (black) Update, had to return mine because it lost its ability to clamp down on spindle.

So, the device mechanism that clamps has broken inside of the clamp, I tried emailing Sumiko through the Pro-Ject site and they refuse to even acknowledge my emails. I had the same experience with them with a question about the X2 tracking and they didn’t answer either. At this point I would avoid all Pro-Ject products in the USA as the Sumiko service is trash! The reason I picked this up is because I didn't want to add any unnecessary weight to the motor when spinning records. I have a Pro-Ject X2. This is both effective and efficient in getting there. You basically place it on top, press down gently and spin the top until it's a bit tight. You unscrew the top to get it off. It sometimes is a bit tough to get it on, but all in all it does the job. The only reason it's 4 stars is that it's super expensive for what it is. It should be half the price, so value for money is not great.

Der Clap It macht genau das, was er soll, nämlich die Schallplatte fest auf dem Plattenteller stabilisieren. Ich betreibe den Clamp It mit einem Pro Ject Debut Carbon Esprit. Da der Motor des Spielers nicht unbedingt der Kräftigste ist, gefällt mit sehr, dass der Clamp It nicht über Eigenhewicht, sondern einen Klemmmechanismus funktioniert. Der Motor wird also nicht zusätzlich belastet. Klanglich kann ich im Vergleich zu vorher keinerlei Unterschiede feststellen. Dazu muss ich erwähnen, dass ich bislang nur mit neuen Platten getestet habe. Mir ging es vorallem um einen optisch Mehrwert und der Clamp It sieht wirklich klasse aus auf meinem Plattenspieler. Die Qualität ist sehr wertig und die Montage ist kinderleicht, wenn man erst einmal weiß, dass der obere Teil zum Befestigen abgeschraubt bzw. gelockert werden muss. Das ist gleichzeitig auch der einzige Kritikpunkt: Bedienungsanleitung Fehlanzeige. Am Ende des Tages ist er sein Geld wert, da er im Vergleich zu günstigeren Modellen, deutlich schicker daherkommt und dennoch im mittleren Preissegment rangiert.

As soon as this was delivered, I ripped the box open and went to clamp my Depeche Mode album, and the thing wouldn't fit - as per my first picture. This was a birthday present from my wife and daughters, so I went to tell her it didn't fit the Pro-Ject turntable that it was made for and said, "Look, I'll show you". She came to look, and the thing slid on perfectly. I am unsure if magic was involved, but I am happy with it overall, and it does Clamp It! It does look the part, and it does what it says on the tin. It is quality workmanship but does seem a little high-end in terms of the price.
