Karak Regent by Strategy Game

The base game Karak is a favourite for my wife and 3 kids. I've been eyeing up this expansion and since I liked the base game so much it was hard to resist.The main additions - chambers: a curse chamber where if you roll under 4 you get the curse; a combat chamber where you can summon any player to fight and whoever wins can take an item. There are a couple of new enemy types, two which give new spell types, one of which can target any player. There are 4 new hero characters and a Lord of Karak character. When 5 chambers are revealed, the losing player becomes he Lord of Karak who can access all of the other players' abilities.I'll outline the pros and cons:Cons: it costs as much as the base game but what you get is not much comparitively in terms of components.The additions change the game quite a lot by adding a couple of player versus player new features. This can be upsetting for little kids and there have been tears initially from this. Now the kids are starting to get used to this so less tears.The additions can add around 15min to each game.ProsSame very high quality components. The new heroes are great. I think the new PvP elements are great (though see above). The Lord of Karak addition is good, it's still balanced as often the conditions for him to come into the game mean he comes out a bit too late in the game for the losing player to too easily win.ConclusionI'm a little conflicted. I love the base game and the new additions but it does feel really overpriced. I'm happy I bought it on balance as my family and I love the base game so much.

Wir lieben Karak und auch diese Erweiterung. Charaktere super ausgearbeitet und ausbalanciert, nur leider sind die Rückseiten bei unserer Erweiterung etwas anders grau gehalten als das Basisspiel, so dass man beim näheren Betrachten sehen kann, ob man eventuell eine Kampfarena oder eine andere Karte aus der Erweiterung erhält. Ansonsten glatte 5 Sterne

Habe jetzt paar Runden mit u ohne Erweiterung mit meinen Jungs (3u4)gespielt,für den 3 jährigen noch etwas zu schwer,ab 4 genau richtig!Spiel bringt Spaß,schönes kindergerechtes Design u Regelwerk übersichtlich u gut formuliert.Einziger Kritikpunkt im Hauptspiel aber vor allem in der Erweiterung ist die mäßige Monster- u Waffenvielfalt ,vor allem das macht Dungeoncrawler ,egal auf welchem Medium langfristig aus.Wäre also schön,wenn es eine Erweiterung mit wesentlich mehr Monstertypen u Ausrüstung geben würde.Deshalb in Vorfreude trotzdem 5 Sterne.

Als große Karak-Fans kaen wir nicht um diese Erweiterung herum. Es gibt 4 neue Charaktere (zählt man den Regenten dazu sind es 5), 2 neue Monstertypen mit jeweils einer neuen Schriftrolle und 2 neue Raumtypen. Man kann sich herauspicken, was einem beliebt um das Basisspiel zu erweitern. WIr nehmen beispielsweise von den 6 Arenen nur 3. Die neuen Charaktere fügen sich super zu den Alten hinzu, so daß noch mehr Auswahl besteht.In den Fluch-Räumen braucht man einfach nur würfeln, ist bei 1-3 verflucht, bei 4-6 nicht. Passt aber gut, da man nun mehr Gelegenheiten hat seinen Fluch loszuwerden, wenn es einen erwischt hat.Ich kann das Spiel jedem ans Herz legen, der Karak gerne spielt.
