Solid choice for budget sewing.
This Brother CS5055 Sewing Machine was just was I was looking for. Although the setup is different than my old machine, I didn't find it difficult to learn. I've made several items already and am happy with the stitch quality and the ease of use. I am looking forward to using all of the many stitch options. For the price, it feels like quality and has a lot of stitch choices.

Highly recommend for beginners
Highly Recommend, this was bought last year as a Christmas gift for my child. We chose this one bc it had a lot of tutorials and reviews said it was great for beginners. My child is already making her own clothes, has made 3/4 quilts, children’s clothing, purses. It does great and is so easy for beginners to learn.

Enjoy using my Brother!
This sewing machine does a great job and I really enjoy the easy needle threader. Also easy to pick out different stitches with a touch of a button.

Good, but will it last?
I purchased this to replace a very basic machine that I've been using for 40 years. The first thing that I noticed was that this feels light and cheap. It does not feel like this will last 40 years like my old Kenmore did. Everything is plastic, and that's not good. Who makes these decisions? There was a bit of a learning curve for me, moving from a basic machine from 40 years ago to this machine. If the electric nannies don't like what you're doing, it will not sew. I found this out when I forgot to put the presser foot down. The machine did nothing. No beep, just nothing. I eventually noticed a warning icon on the LCD display, apparently "ERROR 1" means "Put the presser foot down, dummy!" and the problem was solved. The handle for the presser foot is plastic and feels cheap. It's not in the traditional location and disappears up into the machine sort of when it's up. It's going to take a lot of adjusting to get used to that. It was not difficult to get started sewing and within a very few minutes out of the box, I was doing just that. It sews well, and I hemmed a pair of pants and ran up the hems on a couple of curtains with no drama and no fuss. BUT! I tried the 03 stitch when repairing the handle on a reusable bag and while it worked as it should on 3 of the 4 handle attachment points, it made a heck of a mess out of the fourth, requiring the thread to be picked off and the job repeated. I have no idea what I did differently that one time, but it was frustrating. The machine sews quickly enough on the standard stitches and even on the specialty stiches that I've tried. It's not the fastest, but my experience has been that sewing fast doesn't always result in good work, so I'm not upset. I honestly don't know how I feel about value for the money. It does what it's supposed to do, and it was not hard to learn how to use it. On the other hand, it feels like I purchased it from the Dollar store. It's light and plasticky and things that truly should be metal, like the presser foot lever or the spool spindle are plastic. Only time will tell how long that stuff is going to last, but I am quite confident that I will not be getting anywhere near 40 years out of this machine. 4 stars for feeling light and cheap and for having important wear items like the spool spindle and the presser foot lever made out of plastic.

Best machine for beginner sewing. Easy threading your bobbin, needle, easy changing your needle. Computerized and the patterns are lovely!! it comes with everything needed but always do your research before considering a sew machine!

Good brand, reasonable price--- Fast delivery!
I ordered Saturday and promised for delivery on Thursday but to my surprise it was delivered Monday. (wow!!) A good sewing machine for a starter. Customer/technical support though is "so-so", I needed help when I opened the box but it end up them advising me to bring the machine to their accredited service center (after more than an hour talking to an agent!).... BUT I ended up resolving my concerns by myself via "YouTube"! 💪🏻 Appearance is good, cute little powerful machine. Btw, Manuals and instructional materials are included though YouTube is more helpful!!
