Worth every penny!
Love this handy machine. I can cut bread pretty well, but this machine is magical. Every slice the same thickness you choose. Beautiful. Expensive but worth it.

THE BEST !
Love it!!! But MUST use Caution removing and washing blade — extremely sharp. Easy to remove blade with the end of a spoon instead of a screwdriver slices bread like a hot knife through butter multiple different thicknesses that you can dial. I absolutely love it.

Best thing since…well you know
This is the best bread slicer…IT WORKS Quality is very good. This bread slicer is NOT cheap Chinese junk. I ordered mine May 3. It arrived in the manufacturer’s box on May 12. It was shipped from Amazon, Germany. I didn’t have to pay any import duties. I’ve purchased several bread slicer assist devices over the years. A plastic Presto and another brand made out of Bamboo. Each unit was about $45. I got plastic shavings in my sliced bread or bamboo shavings. They both had different width tines for the bread knife blade for different thickness slices. Neither produced uniform bread slices regardless of using an electric or manual bread knife. The slices were either too thick at the top and too narrow on the bottom or too narrow at the top and too thick on the bottom. I even tried to slice my bread freehand with my bread knife. Argh! Then I purchased this ridiculously expensive Ritter Manus3. And it was with every penny. Finally a device to slice my home made bread at uniform sizes, every time. ;-)

Better Than Bread Knife Sliced Bread
I've been baking sourdough bread for 30 years, always used a bread knife to slice the bread. Started with the gadgets that have multiple slots to slice the bread, never found one that worked well. Stopped using those gadgets and just free hand sliced the bread with a bread knife. I have six different bread knives, always looking for the perfect knife. I was considering a Shun bread knife, started looking at the Zassenhaus bread slicer. The original model seemed to fit the bill, but was no longer available. Newer model hasn't got as many features I wanted, so it was not in the running. I did a web search and found the Ritter site in Germany. Looked like the same slicer as the one on Amazon, but had a different name. Turns out they are identical, and i ordered the slicer from Amazon Germany. I love this machine! Slicing is effortless, the bread slices are guided away from the crank handle and the thickness mechanism holds its setting. There is another version of this slicer that incorporates a bamboo board to catch the slices. I just placed a small cutting board under the sliver to catch the slices, gives the same function for less money and a smaller footprint on the counter. The suction cups hold the slicer to my Corian countertop, no slipping. There is an optional blade I purchased for slicing meat and vegetables, much safer than my mandoline. Overall, a great product.

Pricey but
This bread slicer is breaking the bank, but hey, I wanted the crème de la crème of slicing devices that'll be the envy of our kids one day. German quality, baby! We bought it because slicing bread was a real challenge, but now we're pros, churning out perfect cuts with the flick of a dial. And let me tell you, the suction cups are way more chill on stone than wood. Cleaning's a breeze, and we've ditched the solid loaves for sliced goodness - it's all about cleanliness, folks!

Great bread slicer!
I really like this slicer! So far I’ve only used it for bread, but that’s mostly why we bought it, and it does a great job - especially on the crustier no-knead and sourdough breads. My husband loves home-baked bread but likes it sliced thinner than most slicing guides allow. I’m one of those people who can’t stand cutting uneven slices of bread no matter how hard I try not to do that. Easy to use, easy to clean, I get uniform slices, my husband gets thinner slices - win-win.

Before this slicer, I had an electric slicer that broke almost immediately. I have used this to slice 100+ loaves of bread and it still works like new. I did drop the little sliding tray and it did bend, but I was able to bend it back straight...mostly. The thickness dial works amazing and allows for very fine control of thickness with no hassle. I've even done very thin potato chips with this.

I am so pleased with this machine which was worth the wait and export costs from Germany….I tried another slicer before this which was flimsy with suction pads that did not adhere to any surface. This machine is excellent…..sturdy, and well constructed….I purchased it specifically for slicing my home made sourdough bread which is notoriously difficult to cut into even width slices…the width adjustment dial allows me to choose from a fine slice for sandwiches or a chunky slice for toast….its that easy! The guard helps when the loaf is nearly cut through and ensures your fingers are safe from the blade! I also like the holding bar that pushes the slices through and keeps the bread well away from the handle. The trick I’ve found is not to turn the handle too slowly- it needs a fairly quick movement….a soft brush wipes away the crumbs afterwards. Stack the bread neatly as each slice comes off the blade! I haven’t used this for anything other than bread at the moment, but the range of thicknesses should allow me to cut the thinnest of vegetables - I’m thinking cucumber, onions, courgettes, potatoes for dauphinoise (!) as well as slices of cheese and meat. I am happy that I paid extra for such an efficient way to cut my bread….if you are a sourdough baker, I highly recommend this machine for that alone….
