If you can afford them, do it.
I'll jump the gun and give these five stars. One whole season on some of the roughest terrain in western Wyoming my dad and I each started with a brand new pair, the rubber on top the toes on mine have a couple small chunks out of them his are like new. And when I mean roughest it's not sitting on a four wheeler or horse. Usually our mule deer hunts were three hours of climbing. Packed a deer and an elk off of rock slide vertical avalanche chutes later in the year and these boots didn't care. The support in these is amazing, at first I thought it was a bit too much, but after they (or my feet) we broken in they showed what they are really made of. My dad was struggling with $150-200 boots for a while now and I bit the bullet and gave him these last Christmas. Turned out he needed the wide version so I kept the regular one for myself. (Probably subliminal plan anyway) He has destroyed every brand he goes through in half the time these Kenetreks have held up to and they are ready for other season. He commented a couple times how I probably saved his life giving him these boots the terrain was so rough, ended up somewhere he shouldn't have been hunting. These were soaked one day (from crossing a river with an elk, not leaking) Wore my other hiking boots they were like tennis shoes compared to these. Oil them regularly, take care of your investment and you will find out they are better than buying three pairs of cheap boots

Buy once, cry once
I have been through many hunting boots over the past few years and these are the best I’ve owned. After trying several boots in the $180 to $300 range only to be constantly disappointed I finally caved in and decided to spend the money and give these at try, and I’m so glad I did. Unlike almost every other boot I’ve tried these were super comfortable right out of the box, they still need to be broken in but they are not killing your feet until they do. Every time I put these on it puts a smile on my face because they are the most comfortable things I’ve put on my feet.

Great Boot
In 2020 I bought my first pair of Kenetrek Boots for upland bird hunting. A salesman at Kenetrek recommended the Hardscrable Hicker Boot, which I bought and used to hunt grouse in Michigan, and pheasants in South Dakota and Kansas. The boots fit well but I did not particularly like the ankle height. So this year I purchased the mountain extreme hiking boot and they did not disappoint. I have used them to hunt grouse in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and pheasant and quail in Illinois. They fit great and have been everything I expected them to be, I truly love them. I highly recommend these boots.

Excellent fitting boots
I ordered these boots for a UT mule deer hunt, expecting to spend several weeks breaking them in. To my surprise, they fit well and felt good from the first time I put them on. They were a bit stiff, but easily "softened" with just a couple miles of walking. They give excellent ankle protection, and seem to be completely waterproof. One suggestion ... you really should apply the boot wax that comes in the box. If you don't, and you spend a lot of time in water, the leather will absorb quite a lot of water. Your feet will stay dry, but the boots will get quite heavy! Applying the wax seals the leather, blocks moisture, and keeps the boots light weight. Another suggestion ... Kenetrek also sells insoles separately. If you have significantly different sized feet (as I do), you can purchase boots to fit your larger foot, and insoles to fit the smaller one. Then replace the insole that comes with the boots with one properly sized for your smaller foot. It'll fit fine, and provide proper support where you need it.

Extreme comfort. Easy on and off.
Slip on slip off. No tug, no pull, no screaming. For our off the box. If you want to stop wasting money on hunting or hiking boots get one pair of these. You’ll never go back to any other boot. 46 years of hunting. I know boots. These are it. Yes they are expensive. Really expensive. Add up the cost of your best two pair of boots. Now know this is the last pair you’ll ever need to buy until years later when you wear them out. The cost is fair. You’ll see.
