Benjamin Pump is PERFECT for Benjamin Airbow!
Bought the Benjamin pump to match a Benjamin Airbow and everything worked out perfect! Forget all the nonsense reviews you've read, here IS the real truth behind the Benjamin pump! First, it NEVER got hot while pumping my Airbow up from 1,000 psi to 3,000 psi. Even after 25 pumps the entire unit was cool to the touch, so to get this thing "hot" is gonna take someone just "a pumpin' and a sweatin'" nonstop! Another fact worth mentioning for those who don't already own PCP guns....it's the FIRST thousand psi that wears you out! My Benjamin Airbow came with 1,000 psi on the gauge. With the pump connected, the FIRST 1,000 psi is simply pressurizing the line between the pump and the Airbow! That took about 100+ strokes! You see, until you have created enough "line pressure" to overcome the internal valving, your strokes don't mean diddly squat toward increasing the gun's reservoir pressure! As most can figure out, once volume is satisfied, pressure comes up pretty quickly...and this is true of the Benjamin pump. Once line pressure was equal to gun reservoir pressure, "psi" started to come up pretty quick. From 2,000 psi to 3,000 psi wasn't about number of strokes, but about getting the pump all the way down to inject the next slug of air! By 3,000 psi it is extremely difficult to get the pump all the way down unless one is a large person with good body mechanics....so there is that. At the same time, when shooting, if the gun reservoir is recharged around the 2K psi mark, it won't take long at all to be back to 3,000 psi! The Benjamin pump is clearly well made and made to hold up to a lot of use. And, point of fact, pumping up the Airbow was excellent exercise! I highly recommend this pump for those looking, but not expertly familiar with all the pumps on the market!

Replaced a Chinese pump with this.
I ordered a Chinese made hand pump trying to save a few bucks. Let me tell you, it wasn't worth the hassle. The Chinese product from Mrodair may have come with two rebuild kits (consisting of O-ring sets) and a bottle of lube (that was punctured and leaked all over the entire shipment), but it didn't come with instructions and didn't work right out of the box. I'm in the process of trying to return it but the company doesn't even return emails. I bought this Benjamin pump as a replacement and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it not only came with instructions, but that the only assembly required was 4 screws (two for the floor plate, two for the handle) and only a Philips head screwdriver was needed. It went together in under a minute and was connected to my Benjamin Marauder right after. It worked perfectly, felt sturdy and well built, and was comfortable to use. Don't get me wrong, it takes some effort once you get the psi up there, but it's a great alternative to a scuba tank if you don't want that added expense or for fill ups in the field. My only gripe would be that I wish the filling hose was longer and more flexible to make it more user friendly and easier to pack into a backpack for field use without worrying that you are putting a kink into it. Shipping on this was crazy fast! I ordered it late on a Friday evening and it was on my front step when I got home from work Monday night. It was packaged well and arrived without issue. All in all, I would recommend this pump. I tried to go a cheaper route and ended up regretting it. As the saying goes, buy quality the first time and only cry once.

Could be better but it works fine
Things I liked:This pump works well. While I know these things are not cheap, this pump is fairly well made and has a nice bleeder valve. You will obtain large muscles from using this thing for sure! In my opinion, a hand pump is a must have for PCP rifles, even if you own a tank. With a rifle like the Marauder, this pump will take you from around 1800 psi to 2800 psi in around 85 to 90 pumps. You will need to take break when you are done! Things I would have changed:With time, I feel the price on these hand pumps, along with other manufactures will likely fall a bit. This would be a much better price point in the 129.00 range as opposed to 179.00. Even still, despite many reviews, this pump is fairly well made. What others should know:You will want to avoid over use of this pump by letting it get too warm. I you take very large shot strings and deplete the pressure in your rifle too much, you might want to fill part way, take a break to let the pump shaft and mechanism cool, and then start again. The goal would be to avoid placing heated air which will condensate within your air reservoir.

Benjamin HP Pump ~ Great Back up source if used correctly for a PCP Air Rifle ~ Not a great primary source
Great backup in a pinch ! Not great for the only air source for a PCP Air Rifle but it works great when my SCBA 4500 psi Air pack drops below 3000 psi. I'm in my fifties and I have used it from zero psi to 3000 and it will take some time with a few breaks in between to reach a full fill in my Benjamin Marauder. When my primary source runs low it will top it off without too much trouble in a pinch. I have read reviews where people had trouble with o ring failure bit I think it because of user error not the fault of the pump. If you use it like a bike pump and just pump fast up and down it will overheat and fry the o rings. It clearly states in the basic manual that you need to pause for a second at the peak of the up stroke and at the bottom of the stroke. This gives the pump a more efficient stroke and the o rigs will last a long time. Each stroke up and down actually fill the chamber. You Tube has some good videos on the proper technique but if they are not pausing at the top and bottom of each stroke it is NOT correct. One thing I recommend, if you can't afford a scuba tank rated for 3000psi or an SCBA 4500psi (Scott air pack) and a HP pump is the only air source you can afford, you will spend allot more time hand pumping than shooting. The SCBA is the best choice but fill sources are harder to find than for scuba tanks. The scuba tank will obviously drop below the 2700 psi point much sooner but never over fill your 3000 psi max gun. The 4500psi air pack should be regulated to not exceed 3000psi to avoid dangerously over filling. I paid $120 for a used SCBA in great condition, $350 on eBay for a 6000psi regulator and another $65 for high pressure air paintball fill station rated for 5000psi, quite the investment !

Good for smaller capacity fills
I originally bought this for my paintball tanks. I don't have many fields by me anymore so it is a hassel trying to get fills just so I can rebuild and test the seals on my paintball guns. I figured this would be perfect because I just needed about 1000PSI off my 68ci fiber tank to get in some good seal checks and calibrating. Let's just say it's not quite what I expected. It seems like a sturdy build so far but my mistake was trying to fill up a 68ci tank. Smaller you should be fine but so far I'm tired and I have yet to make it past 800 PSI. I average 500+ PSI a session and I'm not out of shape either. It does warm up during each session too just FYI. This is great for pump up pellet guns/rifles though. Well, for now it at least gives me the at-home ability of testing for seal leaks but nothing to play paintball in the woods with. I have my eye on the shoebox compressor unless I figure a less complex setup with traditional air boosters. Pros: -Seems sturdy, hefty build not flimsy like -has a Female end quick disconnect with steel braided line already on it -guage -relief valve -filtered chamber -comfy grips, sturdy foot plate -You'll have better arms/traps/upper body by the time you try and fill a larger tank to 3000PSI a few times Cons: -Doesn't fill larger reserves fast at all -after about 200 PSI it begins to be a workout -Foot pedals could be bigger for better stability/bigger feet -heats up depending on fill -if you are taller than 5'6", bend your knees otherwise your lower back will be sore - cheapest price I found was $170 not including shipping I will update on it's durability and performance longer term in the following months.

It Doesn't Work
I had a Benjamin High Pressure Hand Pump years ago. It worked fine initually, but I didn't use it much, and I suspect the o rings went bad in it, because the next time I tried it didn't work I bought an o ring kit and tried repairing it, carefully following on-line video instructions. No joy. I bought a new Benjamin High Pressure Hand Pump. It arrived the next day after I ordered it, but the packing it came it looked like it might have been opened before. I tried inflating the reservoir on my Benjamin Discovery rifle. No matter how much I tried the gauges on the pump and the rifle remained on empty. When I opened the bleed valve on the pump no air came out. The pump doesn't work.

Great pump
Works perfectly fine, great build quality. Initially when I read reviews saying that this was a bad primary source and that it gets extremely difficult to pump to 3000 psi I was discouraged. But after trying it myself on my marauder I can say in fact people are babies. I weigh about 140 pounds and am 5'11" and this was fairly easy. Maybe a little painful on the hands but definitely not impossible for someone a little lighter to accomplish a complete fill. Good workout and pretty good pump. Just don't be discouraged if you're on the lighter side.
