Springfield Big and Bold Thermometer with Mounting Bracket, Indoor Outdoor Thermometer, Easy to Read Numbers for Patio, Pool, and Indoor Areas, 5.25-Inch, White

I bought this to replace one I lost when my house was being painted. I'd had that outside of my kitchen window for 10+ years and it was always extremely accurate. I turned and angled it downward so that I could easily see the numbers. When I couldn't find that one, I bought a new one not realizing that it could only be connect flatly against a wall! Well, that didn't work so I searched and found this one. I'm a happy camper again! As fate would have it, I found my original one! I put that one outside my kitchen window we're ahead live for 10+ years. It's home now! I put this new one onto my shed outside. I can see the numbers from my bedroom window. I like that it stands away from the wall because it gets air flow for a more accurate reading. I put my flat one on my bedroom wall! I had taken several thermometers and placed them outside, including my probe meat thermometer, so that I could sync them up to be accurate. This thermometer is inexpensive and accurate. I will buy it again if I have another location for one.

Good and cheap price to mount in my garage so I can peek out the door to see if the heater needs to be turned on.

This is not a high precision thermometer, but it does the job of telling me how it feels outside. I've noticed that it is always reading about 6 degrees warmer than the actual temperature when it is in the shade, and reads very high when it is in the sun (as you would expect.) Installation was simple, it came with some small wood screws and took 2 minutes to install on my deck. I placed it in a spot where I can easily read it from inside. The bracket is a bit flimsy, but you can bend it tight and it seems to hold in place without a problem. I would recommend this thermometer, even being slightly inaccurate, it's cheap and easy to read.

UPDATE - After a few weeks of use, I have observed that the temperature that this thermometer displays has no correlation to what temperature it actually is, and it is actually giving extremely wide variances from the actual temperature. I would not recommend purchasing this thermometer since it can’t perform its sole function accurately. I’m actually angry I have been duped into contributing to the consumption of worthless plastic garbage on this planet. Ordered two. With one of them, the indicator hand fell off and was rattling around inside the dial. Popped the transparent round window off, reattached hand, replaced window. So far so good. Now, hmm. I have three different thermometers showing three different temperatures, 55, 64, and these two showing 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m guessing 64 degrees is correct. So, I turned the screw in the back of the thermometers to revolve the axis to which the coil is affixed. This appears to not have any effect on coil tension, so I think this is a safe thing to do—the coil will just go on reacting to temperature as usual. I almost returned these thinking if I turned the screw it might affect coil tension, but looking at it, I don’t think that turning the screw will harm its functioning. Now the only other thing is…I don’t understand how a thermometer can claim it is “Weatherproof” if you can’t put it in the sun, which the packaging says, but is a fact nowhere to be found on the online description. The reason I ordered two is that I wanted to compare the temperature on my northern and southern (full sun, blast furnace) exposures for planting. Well, we’ll see how it fares with full sun Sacramento summers…. Giving these three stars because with some assembly it will work in limited situations (only in the shade). I’ve also seem photo reviews where it seems like rain can get inside the dial rendering it unreadable, so another way in which this thermometer may only work in a restricted set of circumstances. It could probably work if you want to know the temperature under your covered patio, for example (and you’re not averse to a little tinkering).

For the price, it works well. A few degrees off but you can adjust it. Nice to look out through the window and see the outdoor temperature.

This is a cheap, flimsy product made in China but I knew and expected that when I bought it. The pros are that it is very easy to read outside our kitchen window with good contrast between the white background and the red pointer. I like the fact that the Centigrade numbers are very small. Who cares about Centigrade in America anyway? If you are from a foreign country just learn to use Fahrenheit! It was simple to install with a screwdriver but the screws are tiny. I have tested this unit against very accurate scientific thermometers and sometimes it is dead on and other times it is off by a few degrees. It seems to read more accurately above 40-50 degrees. I would give it an absolute error range of +/- 2 degrees but for the price it is worth the money. I only have had it for a couple weeks but I am keeping it knowing that it might not be super accurate. I intend to continue checking the accuracy when it gets below zero in the next few days. It is adjustable, so after more experimentation, I will adjust it accordingly. It is hassle free and has no batteries which is a plus. When we have strong winds, I will be interested to see how it holds up. If it was more expensive I would not buy it.

Had old one attached to my house when I bought it 36+ years ago. Finally broke. Ordered new one despite poor reviews. It came with needle detached & floating around, as many reviews complained about. Was afraid to tear open blister packaging because people said they couldn’t fix it. Asked for a refund & Amazon gave me one & said keep thermometer. I replaced needle correctly & made sure the clear plastic cover was oriented correctly. It has a plastic stud in its center that prevents needle from coming off. But also the 2 rectangular side tabs on the circumference of the cover must be lined up with slots in base & be captured by them to make sure stud restrains needle. The thermometer is very accurate, reads exactly the same as Weather Channel readings. Update 12/20/24: people complain about thermometer not working properly in direct sunlight. No thermometer works properly in direct sunlight. They are supposed to measure air temperature & belong in the shade.

Durable and easy to read. Great little outdoor thermometer. Placed on outside window trim for easy reading from inside the house. No need for expensive digital probes or battery powered wireless transmitters. They last forever.

Excellent outdoor thermometer. Very clear arrow and dial. Biggest plus is an adjusting screw on the back which allows you to calibrate it - very rare for a basic thermometer. Plastic a bit flimsy so it will be interesting to see how it ages.

This is a great product for the price. I needed it to replace a broken part of an old weatherstation. Looks good and is fairly accurate.
