Nintendo 3DS XL - Red/Black (Renewed)

The refurbished red Nintendo 3DS is a fantastic and worthwhile purchase in 2025 for anyone seeking access to one of the deepest, most unique handheld game libraries ever created. The vibrant red shell is a classic, nostalgic color, and a quality refurbished unit guarantees that the dual screens, 3D functionality (if you choose to use it), and signature clamshell design are all in excellent working condition, often feeling almost new. While the eShop is now closed, the vast catalog of physical cartridges, which includes classic titles like The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, secures the console's value. For a lower price than a new current-gen system, this console is the perfect pocket-sized powerhouse for both retro gaming enthusiasts and those new to the beloved Nintendo DS/3DS era.

It works and on first inspection it looked completely new. Obviously it's not because it is refurbished, and I held off for a while before reviewing to make sure it worked well. Pros- I've had no major issues with it. Camera works, 3d works, came with a stylus and charger. I haven't tested the mic since I haven't played a game that uses it. Very minimal visible wear, I was honestly surprised by how clean it looked. Cons- The only things I've noticed with it is that the backplate on the side of the "3" sticker is a little loose, assuming it wasn't screwed down properly but it doesn't really affect anything and it's not loose enough to cause issues. There is a few very small specks on the main screen, you can't see them most of the time, but when it's all one solid color behind it, you can see it a little bit. Touch screen can be a bit finicky. Some spots you have to press hard or multiple times for it to register. It isn't a big issue for games I play on it (Mostly Pokémon) and there's only a 2 or 3 spots that it happens to and they're all close to an edge. Overall very happy with what I received and excited to be able to play early Pokémon games from the DS-3DS era just like old times

The device looks in good condition. However, for some reason the touch screen doesn’t work in the bottom portion. So I can’t get past the start up phase. It’s an easy issue to see if they would have tested the product before sending it.

I bought this as a gift for one of my kids so we could play games together, and it works perfectly. No issues with the screen hinge, no issues with scratches on the screen, no issues with it reading game cards, no issues with it holding a battery charge, no issues with Wi-Fi or other communications.

Seems the 3DS was modded by previous owner, unable to access eshop due to region lock (japan) although system is from US. No biggie since the eshop shut down but im unable to transfer data from my OG 3ds (downloaded games) to this one. The system came fully whiped and reset but the serial nimber is already logged in nintendo’s servers. Other than that, system works fine (minus some instances where it doesn't wake up from sleep mode) and has minor scratches on the bottom. It also came with a 3rd party charger which is cool, wasnt expecting it to come with a charger at all.

Works great. Buttons are slightly used and showing some wear but still functional .

The hinge, which is the weak point on these models, is in great shape. I can play my games, although the game slot seems to think it's empty sometimes when it isn't. It's all good. If that's the worst thing that happens, I'll be most pleased.

I've been wanting to get my hands on an original 3ds xl for a while, call it nostalgia. I saw this one on Amazon and thought that even if used as long as it was in good clean workable shape I would be happy. It arrived and it is beautiful. Virtually no scratching or marks on the front or back. I am excited to play on it!
