How is this different from "barge glue cement rubber" ? anyone used both?

I have used both. The barge glue did not hold my shoe repair as long. It eventually gave way. I glued the soles back onto my tennis shoes. The barge glue came undone after a couple of months. Shoe goo is still holding even after 6 months! Will use it again!!!!

The sole of one of my army boots has detached some 3-4 inches from the front. Would this product be useful for such a repair job?

Should work. I used it with leather moccasins. My brother owns a commercial repair shop. He told me about it and uses it a lot.

Holes in non-leather shoe sole that is worn thru to underlying fabric -- will this fix?

I just fixed winter boots that I wear a lot, so haven't worn them yet. They have rubber type soles. However, I watched a Youtube video first with a skateboarder who apparently uses this stuff all the time, knew a lot about it. HE said on soles, it's a temporary fix, that it will wear off. I got the impression he was hard on his shoes, using them to brake, etc. Sorry for the vague answer...
