Week link design from Hitachi.
I rely on my saw all day every day. I have used many saws over my decade of experience. And, the Hitachi's are the best. In my opinion this is the best sliding compound miter you can by short of spend over a grand. Having said that. This part and the accompanying lift bearing design are the week links. I keep at least two of these and accompany bearing in my truck at all times. If this part is not perfect they will need to be replaces in a short amount of use. I generally change these at least once a month. Disposable part by design along with the lift bearing that gets gummed up because it is exposed next to the blade. I have modified both my Hitachi's where this link rubs against the saw. It helps. I think Hitachi needs to address this issue with a raise replaceable Teflon rub part? Something would be better than status quo. I spend way to much on this part and accompanying bearing. FYI, I work fast and a 10" blade flexes. 12" blades flex a lot more. I defiantly prefer 8" blades for speed, but you can not by a quality Hitachi with 8" blade and double bevel.
