Celestron SkyMaster Pro 20x80 Astronomy Binoculars for Long-Range Viewing

YOU WILL NEED A STUDY TRIPOD for these binos. There's an east view from my deck that allows me to view the Moon rise, Venus, Orion, Saturn and a host of other players. I don't know if it's the Central Texas air that makes that Moon rise look like a HUGE china plate in the sky but I wanted for AGES to see it closer. What took me so long. When I do graduate to a telescope, I will keep these bino's for Texas travel to various canyons and cliffs. DO READ the manual - familiarize yourself with all the knobs. Don't cheat yourself of the experience and use the levels. The easy in / out of the tripod adapter is a thing of beauty. DO NOT let go of the bino's until you are VERY confident that everything is secure - your heart will drop if something that's not supposed to move - MOVES. I am very pleased with the tripod securing the bino's - not a wobbly one. It's the Amazon Basics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod With Bag, Black. I'm 5' 7" and used nearly all of the height... then again maybe you pull out your best comfy lawn chair and sit. There's a middle pole that unwinds upward with a little handle for additional lift. This middle pole also has a locking nut. Do the left eye focus first with the middle focus ring as the right eye has a separate focus only - as stated in the MANUAL.* * * UPDATE * * * 10/15/2023 I had people fly in from Chicago for the eclipse. At night we used these bino's to view the stars. The first time you see the four moons of Jupiter - your jaw drops and you want to show everybody. You view satellites flying overhead that you cannot view with the naked eye. It is breath taking. I will be purchasing bino solar filters to take these as far as they can go.

These are very nice quality binoculars and do the job exceptionally well. For good example, I was able to find Jupiter and 4 of its moons. They were crisp just about to the point where I could make out the separate bands on Jupiter, even despite the bright super moon being quite close to it. The build quality is excellent with a sturdy focusing wheel, allowing for easy tac-sharp focusing. I'd say this is a must have item for an aspiring amateur astronomer like myself. I also can appreciate the good quality of the carrying case and accessories.

Easy and clear focus.

I own a Celestron 8 inch Nexstar telescope, and being familiar with the brand, I bought their 20x80 binocular. I am not disappointed in any way. I must say that Amazon's Alexa AI helped me in a significant way in choosing which one to buy, as I had gravitated to the Celestron 25x100, but as pointed out by Alexa, that model would have been quite heavy.

This is my second try at astronomical viewing using a set of binoculars. This 20 X 70 set is easier to handle and gives you particularly good viewing of the moon. At least this one (after trying the 20X100) is optically aligned. It also fits your face better than the 20X100, and is definitely lighter. Deeper space that is normally viewable with a 70MM telescope, is not there with these binoculars. However, the clusters show up fairly well and you can see the rings of Saturn. So, not bad.

So I got this thing few years back. It's heavy. So I had to look for a really sturdy heavy duty tripod which was expensive. No matter how hard I try, it's hard to keep it in steady position and planets move so this thing has to move. Long story short it's a pain to use. There is no phone or camera adaptor. Tripod connector is not all that great - its just way too heavy for it. Skip this thing and get a nice telescope.

I Love the SkyMaster Line! This is my 3rd SkyMaster. I own the 8X56 DX, 12X60 and 20X80 Pro. My favorite overall are the 8X56 (for Terrestrial viewing, They are right up there with my Athlon Argos UHD). The SkyMaster 20X80 Pro are rather impressive, especially given how relatively inexpensive you can acquire them. They see far and maintain a crisp full view. Easy one center knob focus. Eye relief is decent. The rail is removable for using a red dot finder scope. It’s a very good package they give you. Lifetime (limited) Warranty. Now, they are no Echelon or Nature HD or any number of virtually 4 figure (or high 4 figure) Binoculars out on the Market. They are tough, well built, very nicely designed, comfortable Binoculars that Deliver really good Optics. Shoot with discounts and/or coupons you can snag them for under $300.00. You Will not find a better pair of Binos this size at Celestron’s price! Good Luck and Clear Skies!

These are absolute beasts! Get ready to adopt a work out program because your forearms will have to be like Popeye! Get a sturdy tripod because these binoculars are pythons! I told my friend that they are like a "mini hubble" and that is for reals. If you like to see crisp images and are not able to utilize a space telescope then these enormous spectacles are for you! They are clear and bright and the moon pops like a rising star on a mission from Mars! You best be serious about your star gazing because you can see Orion like he's right in your back yard! I simply freaked and then saw Pluto... that's my dog though. I saw Saturn and her rings but that was on a non-cloudy, non city glowing skyline. You need to experience these in the country without annoying factory lights.

Impressive size and heft... Keep that in mind! These are well suited to stargazing on a tripod and quick daytime pick up and quick look at terrestrial objects. You're not going hiking with these unless you want a serious workout! The image in the eyepieces, once tuned to your eyes (set up the diopter and interpupillary distance) the image of Venus was a clear crescent and the moon gained depth and amazing detail! One note - I found I had to push the focus past a 'block' on the threads to get to infinity(ish) to get Venus into focus, but once done, it focuses smoothly back out. Protection for the unit is OK - eyecup and lense caps are very good. The case is a soft bag as pictured and will only protect against scuffs. You must remain vigilant against bumps even in the bag - a hard case would have been preferred, but would have certainly jumped the price up... I would buy these again.

Duży rozrzut jakościowy. Nierównomierna ostrość na krawędziach w obrębie lewego i prawego toru optycznego, problemy z kolimacją (luzy na mostku), która potrafi się gubić i wracać, trudno wyregulować ostrość. Dodatkowo zdarzają się pojedyncze rysy wewnątrz optyki oraz zabrudzenia. Największą zaletą jest duże przybliżenie (księżyc wygląda obłędnie), oraz mała waga. Dla przeciętnego użytkownika prawdopodobnie będzie w porządku, ale jeśli ktoś wymaga od sprzętu czegoś więcej, to może być zawiedziony. Polecam pod warunkiem, że ktoś trafi udany egzemplarz.

First big binoculars I've owned not an expert astronomer and very impressed

ich habe ein Instrument gesucht, das ich zur Himmelsbeobachtung von den Ausmassen her im Flugzeug-Handgepäck mitnehmen kann; da mir mein Zeiss-Fernglas für "Abstriche" beim Zoll zu schade war, und Teleskope zu lang fürs Handgepäck, bin ich auf dieses gestoßen; zunächst habe ich das praktische 15x70 bestellt und es war sogar besser als erwartet justiert, lies sich aber nur einseitig genau scharfstellen, hatte über einen breiten Rand einen Grauschleier und glänzende Stellen an der Einsichtstelle -was auf schlechte Schwärzung im Inneren schließen läßt; dann erschien auf einmal dieses - eigentlich viel teurere- schaut selbst im Internet - Pro-Glas damals zum Kampfpreis, kein Zeiss, aber viel besser als das o.G. ohne all diese Fehler, jeden Cent wert; leider waren beim ersten noch Fehler auf der Eintrittsfläche, ein scheinbarer Kratzer ließ sich sogar mit großer Vorsicht als Verunreinigung beseitigen, aber nicht gravierend, hätte ich bei Problemen mit dem Austauschgerät sogar behalten; beim - problemlos - als Ersatz geschickten war alles in Ordnung, ein wirklich schönes Instrument, mit wirlich viel Licht, Andromeda gut zu sehenund Orion-Nebel toll, die Plejaden ein Glitzern wie Brillanten und das für einen tollen Preis; die Qualitätskontrolle scheint wirlich wie oft beschrieben nicht der Hammer zu sein, aber dank der tollem Kundendienst und Kulanz von Amazon und wohl auch Celestron wohl ein vertretbares Risiko, meine absolute Kaufempfehlung für ein gehobenes Einsteiger-Instrument fast zum halben Preis; ich empfehle ein stabiles Stativ, am Besten ein Astro-Einsteiger-Stativ, obwohl das Ferglas leichter als erwartet ist - aber für Astro keine Chance ohne Stativ; das kann ja in den Koffer; wünsche immer gute Sicht
