## Description

This 3M Reusable Respirator 7500 Series uses advanced silicone material to help provide comfortable and durable respiratory protection. A unique adjustment design helps reduce pressure points on the face for even more comfort. 3M Cool Flow Valve helps make breathing easier and can reduces heat and moisture build-up for cool, dry comfort. Respirator helps provide protection against particulates and a wide variety of gases and vapors when used with approved 3M cartridges and filters (not included). When properly fitted and used with approved 3M cartridges and filters, this respirator (commonly referred to as a “mask”) helps provide respiratory protection at concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL). The exhalation valve cover directs exhaled breath and moisture downward while helping protect the valve area from debris while also making for easier cleaning. Recommended applications include abatement, painting, welding, chemical handling, construction, utilities, mining, pharmaceutical, and smelting. NIOSH, a Federal government regulatory agency, has tested and approved the 7500 Series with 3M cartridges, filters or supplied air systems to help reduce breathing certain airborne contaminants. Warning: Respirators help protect against certain airborne contaminants. Before use, the wearer must read and understand the User Instructions provided as a part of the product packaging. Follow all local regulations. In the U.S., a written respiratory protection program must be implemented meeting all the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 including training, fit testing and medical evaluation. In Canada, CSA standards Z94.4 requirements must be met and/or requirements of the applicable jurisdiction, as appropriate. Misuse may result in sickness or death.

Review: I'm really impressed - I did alot of research and read alot of reviews before purchasing this specific respirator. I was looking for something that I could wear for maybe 3-4 hours at a time while doing some woodworking and painting. It was important to me to have a good fit, one that was lightweight, comfortable, and hopefully easy to breathe in. My only experience with any kind of face masks prior to this one were the disposable kind that we have all been wearing for the past few years. I was SO impressed when I installed the filters and tried this on. Breathing was very easy - fresh air filled the mask when I would breathe in, and the mask did not feel stuffy or humid when breathing out. This was a night and day experience when compared to the disposable kind. I guess I had assumed that since this mask covers the entire nose and mouth (with a silicone seal), that breathing would feel uncomfortable and difficult - but I was so wrong. Additionally, I usually have some stubble / a short beard and this mask still formed a great seal. I would NOT recommend using this mask WITH facial hair in any environment with dangerous / hazardous materials, but for me - doing some light woodworking and painting, I had no issues whatsoever. I knew the mask was working when I would take it off, and I would be immediately hit by the smell/fumes of whatever I was working with, meanwhile when I had the mask on, I never smelled a thing! I also love that this face mask can be washed with soap and water, because I definitely want to be able to was this periodically if I'm going to be spending so much time breathing through it. As for sizing, I went back and forth between trying to figure out if the medium or large would be better for me (adult male, 30s, 5'8", size M clothes generally). I think I read in some materials from 3M that approx. 90% of adults would wear a size M in this mask, so I decided to just risk and go ahead with the Medium - it turned out to be perfect. I don't know how large a L actually is, but the fit of this mask from the bridge of my nose to under my chin fits like it was molded for me. Very happy with how the sizing turned out. Lastly, and most importantly, make sure you buy the correct bayonet filters for whatever application you are using this for. That seems basic, but I'm sure that lots of people don't realize that some filters are just for dust (not gases), and then the filters for gases have different degrees based on the environment you'll be working in / the chemicals you're working with. This mask won't be any good to you if you don't buy a filter that protects you from the substance you're working with. I hope this helps you!
Review: Using this for yardwork, drywall sanding, cabinet refinishing, and allergies - I purchased the 3M P100 professional filters ( 3M CARTRIDGE FILTER ORGANIC VAPOR/ACID P100 ) and 3M P100 Particulate Filters ( 3M Particulate Filter 7093B, P100 Respiratory Protection (Pack of 4) ) from desertcart.com to use with this respirator. So far, I've used this mask for the following: --yardwork (mowing/trimming/leaf blowing 1/2 acre lot) --sanding some drywall in our basement (with limited access to ventilation) --cabinet sanding/priming/painting (ditto on the ventilation issue) --outdoor allergen barrier in the late spring. So far, it's performed really well for all tasks. Pros: --All straps are adjustable, so it should fit most heads pretty well. The straps that fit around the upper cranium are flat enough that I can still wear my sunshade hat over it. The strap that goes around the back of the neck/lower part of the head is pretty standard and necessary if you don't want air leaking in around the chin. --The mask is air-tight around my cheeks and nose. I've had issues with other respirators because my cheeks are kind of hollow and it is hard to find a respirator that conforms to the shape of my face without leaving deep dents over my nose and cheekbones. This respirator has a rubber gasket-like material that helps with the seal against the face and keeps the mask from leaving crazy dents all over your cheeks and nose after you remove it. There were a few marks, but nothing like the plastic-surgery-gone-wrong/Frankenstein's-monster issues that some of my other respirators have had. --Ditto Rachel Levine's earlier review regarding vents: the downward venting design does a good job of preventing fogging of glasses and goggles. Cons: --The rubbery gasket next to your face on the mask causes it to slip a tiny bit when you sweat. I wore it while priming in the 80 degree garage for about 1 hour and had to keep adjusting it because it wanted to slide down a few millimeters from all the sweat. I didn't have this problem when I was working outside in 65 degree weather (not sweating). --The mask is a little heavy for a 5'4" 130lb female, but not uncomfortable. For people with stronger neck/face muscles, this wouldn't even be a consideration. Solid 5 star recommendation for this product.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you figure your size?**
A: I spoke with 3M tech support, and the guy explained it like this: "70% of users will fit the size medium. 23% will fit size large. The rest will fall in the small category." I assume that the reason 93% fit medium to large because men typically are the users. I am 6', 225lb guy that wears a medium. My 5'4" wife uses small. I can almost wear a large, but larges are set for people with long faces.

**Q: What filters come with it?**
A: None - you order the filters separately. There are several/many different filters depending on what your application is. Simply sawdust? Chemical fumes? Buy the filters that fit your use.

**Q: Even after reading the q&a i'm still confused as to which filter i need. i just need dust particle filtration for woodworking. shape/model #?**
A: A set of the 3M P100 filters work great. I use the 2091 model for woodworking. The P is for particulate and the 100 means it filters 100%. For anything with fumes like finishes I use a paint set of filters like the 3M 6001

**Q: What is the difference between this mask and the 3m(tm) half facepiece respirator assembly 6291 ?**
A: This one is made with silicone that seals against your face which is more comfortable and durable. If you plan on wearing it often or for long periods of time get this one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Mask!
*by S***M on December 1, 2012*

I have used this mask for various things, including airplane fueling, diesel truck operation, woodworking, lawn mowing and even sweeping. I purchased the 2097 filters, which are P100 rated - they work for particulates, and a small amount of organic vapors - more detailed review on product page 3M P100 Particulate Filter with Organic Vapor Relief, 2-Pack . Here are things I like about this mask: - The mask itself is comfortable, even during summer time (though it does get a little sweaty). - It's works about 10 times better than a standard disposable mask. It seals completely with little adjustment. The first time I put it on and did a fit check, it was perfect (3M has instructions on fit checks on youtube - basically cover the inhalation ports and suck in, or cover the exhalation port and blow). With the right filters, you won't smell anything. Also, the mask and filters last a lot longer than a disposable. - Donning and removal is really quick - I just keep the lower strap connected, and pull off the head part. It comfortably hangs on your neck, ready for use. I can don and remove the mask with one hand, and in a second or two. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. I encourage you to buy it if you spend any amount of time around particulates or vapors. It's great for those with allergies - I'm sure it scares little kids when I mow our lawn, but it keeps me from sneezing the whole time. Do your research to find what filter is right for your job. I chose this mask over the cheaper 3M respirator, because reviewers said it was more comfortable. Safety equipment can't help you if you don't like using it. With this mask, I don't have to sacrifice anything. The cost is nothing compared to the cost of medical care - protect your lungs! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for reading!
