This product has completely changed the way I think about fly lines and my rod and reel configurations. Previously, my focus, with respect casting performance, was almost entirely on my rod. After picking up rio elite gold , fly line is at the top of my list for creating or improving a rod and reel setup. This line makes my $150 Cabela's rod cast just as good as my orvis recon. And casting with my recon is night and day compared to the $50 line I had on it before. I'll never upgrade a rod again before buying premium line like this. Technically speaking, this line loads fast actions rods (e.g. recon) very nicely, making 40 ft casts quite effortless. The line floats very well and the line coating noticeably really helps in shooting line. It's also quite good at roll casting and I find myself employing spey casting techniques quite a bit at short range, although performance here is not nearly as good as a spey specific line. I use this line for a variety of techniques with high effectiveness: casting dry flies from a size 6 hopper to a size 18 midge is buttery smooth. Turns over medium Indicator rigs quite well. Has a bit of a struggle with medium and heavy size streamers (think sculpzillas) but is excellent with lighter streamers ( wooly buggers). Of course take with a grain of salt as caster's skill is not of the highest grade!

This is the first fly line that I have spent this much money on. Only been out once so not a great comparison but it does seem slicker, is it 100.00 slicker not really sure yet.

One of the very best fly lines. Currently own three Rio lines. Shoots through eyelets and floats extremely well. My fishing partner bought this line and after his first cast, stopped and told me how awesome it was.

I had this flyline on my 6wt and really liked it so I bought it again

Ordered this line April 2023 and very disappointed to see it has already broken down in under a year. I haven't had this issue with any other fly line (mostly use SA or Orvis PRO) so will not purchase again. Giving two stars since I do not feel like this is a good quality for the price.

Good line but does need stretching before use so it lay`s on the water straight.

Just buy a good medium priced floating line and you’ll be fine. I bought this and the tip of the “floating line” is 2-3 inches under the surface most of the time. Making straight lining buzzers or nyphms super hard as bite detection is reduced. It’s got weird kinks in it that are almost impossible to stretch out. Sadly only got to test it recently and I’m past the point of returning this or trying a replacement to see if I’ve maybe just got a bad line. Disappointing to say the least.

Terrible memory coils despite stretching. Tip started to sink very early in its life. Expensive for something with such a poor performance On this basis after probably only 20 outings would definitely not recommend.
