⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better Than Any BBQ Sauce I’ve Had in Years
I’ll admit, I was skeptical. When a product has this much hype and a "cult following," I usually expect to be underwhelmed. I was wrong. Bachan’s Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce isn’t just good—it has officially replaced the staple sauces in my refrigerator. The Flavor Profile If you’re expecting a thick, syrupy, Kansas City-style BBQ sauce, this isn't that. It is much closer to a high-end teriyaki or a refined unagi sauce, but with significantly more depth. Balance: It strikes a perfect chord between savory (umami), sweet, and salty. Freshness: You can actually taste the ginger and green onion. It doesn’t have that "processed" aftertaste found in many shelf-stable glazes. Consistency: It’s thin and pourable, which makes it an incredible marinade because it actually penetrates the meat rather than just sitting on top. Performance & Versatility I’ve put this through the ringer over the last week to see where it shines: Grilled Chicken Thighs: I brushed it on during the last 3 minutes of grilling. It caramelized beautifully without burning into a blackened mess. Stir-Fry Base: Added a splash to some veggies and noodles; it provided a "restaurant quality" finish with zero extra seasoning needed. Salmon Glaze: This might be the best use case. It cuts through the fattiness of the fish perfectly. The "Spoon Test": Yes, it’s good enough to eat straight.

Bachan's
Bachan's is my favorite BBQ sauce and has been a staple in my pantry for years. They're always at the soy and tofu festival in SF Japantown and I've bought direct when I've been there. As I'm disabled it's hard for me to get out and do a proper shopping, so I'm so glad they've added it to Amazon. The prices here are a little higher than my local store, so if you're looking for savings you might do a comparison, but whether you buy it on amazon or at Kroger the flavor is the same. Bachan's has amazing consistency and I know that each bottle I receive is going to be nothing but the best, from a family owned company that only uses the best of the best. We've used this on chicken, beef, seafood--you name it we've probably put this on. This makes an excellent overnight marinade and is perfect as a finishing glaze. Out of all the flavors my favorites would be the original (feels like a hug from my bachan) and the sweet honey, which adds *just* the right amount of sweetness to your dish. If you're looking for something citrusy during the summer you cannot go wrong with marinating some chicken in the yuzu sauce. It's so refreshing and perfect for hot weather. No matter what flavor you choose there is something for everyone.

New Kitchen Staple!
We are so happy we found this sauce! Great to add to dishes if you're looking for a new flavor to incorporate, not too sweet or tangy, it's been delicious on tofu, chicken, rice. You can thicken up the sauce in the pan if you would prefer to have more of a teriyaki consistency. This is a new staple in our kitchen we always have a bottle and are excited to try the different flavors.

Good flavor
This is a very good sauce. It is very watery though and doesn't taste much different from a soy sauce, just a little bit more depth of flavor. Good on top of stir fry and rice dishes. Big bottle, will last a while too with a nice pour nozzle.

it's just teriyaki sauce
it's really tasty but it reminds me of the teriyaki sauce that is served at every single teriyaki shop in the greater Seattle area - exactly the same flavor profile, texture, and consistency. it's not barbecue sauce, and teriyaki isnt really barbecue anyway, it's a sauce that goes on grilled/stir-fried meats/tofu.

Accidentally Started a Weekly Tradition
Used this brand while cooking with my sister-in-law at her house and immediately ordered some for our family. It's easy to use and adds a ton of flavor. This sauce is solely responsible for our new weekly tradition of teriyaki chicken, rice, and broccoli, it tastes great on everything! The seal was intact and packaging was excellent. I won't hesitate to purchase again when we run out soon.

Great for stir fry. Realized when I got the bottle it’s a small bottle. Costco is a cheaper price for a bigger bottle.
