The Leadership of Muhammad is a very personal study of the life-story and leadership skills of the Prophet. John Adair served with a Bedouin regiment in the Arab Legion and this story is full of fascinating detail of desert life and Bedouin beliefs. A business book that crosses boundaries it highlights the key leadership skills displayed by Muhammad and allows you to share in his wisdom. John Adair weaves the story of Muhammad's life together with aspects of Bedouin culture and ancient proverbs to provide key points for leaders and aspiring leaders. He discusses tribal leadership and essential attributes such as integrity, moral authority and humility. Learning and leadership go hand in hand. You are not born a leader, but you can become one and it is never too late to learn. John Adair's study or Muhammad and the tribal tradition of leadership is an essential addtion to the leadership debate. Review: The best academic book on the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him - I absolutely loved this book so much that I was sad I didn't have more of it to read. Honestly, John Adair mesmerized me through his academic outlook of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. A different lens, yet forever marvel at the life of the greatest. This was also a book which was very much one that fits within my profession too. Something absolutely applicable in a professional setting as much as personal too. On a journey the leader of a group is their servant. Wish I could read more! Review: A book to improve your personal leadership qualities - Written by one of the premier authors on leadership, this book takes examples from the character traits of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad, who is reported to have said “I was only sent to perfect character”. The main anecdote for leadership is being of service to others and in this way anyone interested in not just being a leader but also improving many aspects of their character and life will benefit. The author concludes with his formula, based on other examples of historical leaders too, of the essential traits of good leadership applicable to personal and business development.

A clear and focussed read
This book is not very bulky but is an excellent read. Adair uses examples to explain the leadership qualities tha Muhammed had and how these can be applied in todays leadership models. The experiences tha Adiar had with bedouin in Arabia also adds value to his arguments for the need of 'moral authority' to be a real leader of a people. It provided an example and evidence for the reality of true leadership, where the leader of a people is always at their service. Strongly recommended read.

Good but not quite fulfilling its potential
I had high expectations for this book after listening to a talk by the speaker introducing it and after receiving recommendations from friends who had read it before me. Reading it, however, I couldn't help feel a little disappointed. It's a small book (this I knew before I bought it) and, even then, the mention of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his examples of leadership are few and far between. Each chapter (there are eight) takes one concept of leadership exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), elaborates on why it is important and explains how it ties to the Bedouin/Arabian society that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) lived within. Overall, a great idea for a book and not a bad book, but not quite living up to its potential and my expectation.

The humal-like aspect of Prophet Muhammad.
The human-like aspect of Prophet Muhammad discussed with the proper background rather than revered Muhammad that you would find in the muslim authors' authored biography.

Très superficiel
Tout est dans le titre, les analyses sont redondantes et manquent de profondeur, je m'attendais à découvrir plein de choses sur le leadership du prophète mais j'avoue être déçu

Originality Revisited
It is an original and most interesting analysis of the nuances of leadership. The author beautifully opens the book with 'Shepherds' as leaders and supports his line of argument with solid evidence from religious and worldly angles. Then he moves on to analyze different aspects of the life and times of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and establishes his stand for entitling his book as "The Leadership of Muhammed" (PBUH). He wonderfully quotes under the chapter "Carvan Leader " a popular hadith which the followers of Tablighi jamat keep on following in every jamat and which every Muslim or any other person must follow for its immense benefits, that is, "when traveling on a journey, even if there are only three of you, make one a leader". The author's command on issues of leadership, communication, innovative leaders and creative thinking is visible in each page of this remarkable work of oddly 115 pages, divided into just eight chapters. It is a very well researched, analytical and interesting book that I have read in last few years. The importance of this work by John Adair is obvious as he is one of most authoritative scholars on leadership and allied issues. I believe that everyone should read this remarkable book as leadership is intimately connected to human nature and human life.
